So this weapon was nearly the standard US service rifle, I suppose this US made FAL would have had the 'M14' designation.

Did the T48 have a stripper clip insert to feed the magazine? or is it just a brass deflector?

It did have a stripper-clip - a big ungainly-looking thing that was soon dumped. I'll see if I can find an image.

If you are interested in one, DSA makes a replica.

It doesn't take M14 type stripper clips? Neither of my FALs has a guide on the weapon, but M14 stripper clips work fine through my surplus Argentinean speed loaders for jamming mags.

I'm speaking of the original version - it looked like a big curtain-rail wrapped around the cartridges with a handle on top. My scanner's on the blink - I'll have to try and find a pic elsewhere.

    Edit: From falfiles:

If you think you will live long enough to get one. I started trying to order various special models from them almost 2 years ago, they still have me on a waiting list.

Ever time I call it's "We only build those now and then, we'll contact you next time".
