Sorry about the failed posts

Can't seem to get the pictures thru of my Colt 1st Dragoon. I might not have a chance to try again for awhile because I am a spray pilot and I will be busy thru August. Thank you for letting me join your fine group but when it comes to computers and putting up pictures I don't know the rudder from the elevators. Elbert

I received Friday my Pedersoli "Picket" mold for the Walker. I casted a few bullets Saturday and tried them along round balls yesterday. The quality of the mold is nice, but being "historical" in design, the handles are all metal and even with heavy gloves, it's getting pretty hot soon whereas the mold itself is not at the right temperature yet, resulting in poorly casted bullets :

I modified the handles, adding wooden tips, and the bullets I casted yesterday afternoon are nice.
for both bullet, I did as in a MLAIC match : 13 rounds, 1/2 h, 25 meters, one hand shooting.
This is my "round balls" target, H&N .457, 40 grains Suiss n°3, 15 grains semolina, grease over :

This is my "Picket balls" target, 45 grains suiss n°3, no semolina, grease over :

Considering both the very weight of the Walker after having already shot a match and the poorly casted bullets can explain why the results sucks so much with the Picket bullets. Next week, I'll shoot only my (well-casted this time) Picket and see what happens.
Here is a view of the Pickets in the cylinder :

Well, it's not a Walker, but it's my way to spare the average taxpayer's money. The French SecDef will be happy to learn that we can cut in 10 the cost of ammunitions. We'll just need then to enlist 10 or 20 times more guys and we can deliver the same rate of fire as with automatic weapons :neener:

Planning to join y'all as soon as I can find a good 'un. I've handled a couple of originals and liked the feel, but all of the repros that I've run across feel wrong.
Any suggestions?

As it is, I'll keep on with the Ruger Old Army, '58 Rem, and '51 Colt.

Original what? Walkers? What does 'feel wrong' mean? I'd love to help but I have no idea what you're talking about.

Old Wornout Soldier and Shawnee:

Thank you! That is a Colt Signature Series 3rd Model Dragoon.

The finish is like a Python in the bluing or like a SAA in the overall casehardening and bluing.

If you get a hankering for a great looking revolver, the Colt Signature Series can't be beat. :)

Yeah, original Walkers. One was pretty much pristine-looking although it was a civilian model made from mixed parts, but the one that attracted me was in almost relic condition. Pitted, battered, slightly modified (a spring-catch added to the loading lever), it felt right.
Then again, I was raised on battered, original guns from attics, barns, and caves. My first cap-n-ball was a '58 Remington that came out of a creosote barrel in an old mine. That gun had character!

Shot my Pocket Rifle 18 times awhile ago. 3 cylinders. 48 grains Triple Seven [3fff] each chamber. .457 swaged round lead balls. Remington #11 percussion caps.-- 65--100--125 yards, 1 cylinder each.
I'vd done scrubbed out the barrel and the chambers good with the brush and cleaning solvent and cleaned the nipples. I'vd got the wood folded back and the metal soaking awhile in some 'Gun Scrubber' I sprayed on it. I'll dry it and patch it and lube it in a little while.
I enjoyed myself....

Walker Pictures

I am trying to upload photos of my Walker for proof of being worthy of such company. Wish me luck all. I think I got it here is my Walker with several other of my favorite pieces. Rifles and muskets are used for hunting, not just wall hangers.
Brett.
