I don't know the name of the stuff. Can't remember and it's put away right now. I paid about $49.00 for it from Cabela's some time ago. Work's pretty good.
If I could get someone to teach me how to post my pictures from the bucket I'd post a picture, maybe several. K.A.T. tried to show me but it didn't work for me and I remember enough from 2 years ago to know I wasn't clicking on 'paste' at all.
Another guy posted something called the '10 easy rules for posting'. That didn't work because all the steps were not there and/or were not in proper sequence. I think those were the same instructions I was trying to follow a couple of years ago.
It dosen't really matter. I'll get it figured out someday even if I have to get Photobucket on the phone for step by step instructions. I'm certainly not gonna lose any sleep over it.
Don't the '47's (Walkers) rust a lot easier and quicker without the bluing on them?
I don't know. Not talking bad about anyone's piece but I have seen photos of Walkers 'in the white'. Looked sort of 'unfinished' to me. Looked like someone had started building a Walker and then quit before they got through..
Well, I'vd got to help Old Fuff put a new wall up so the rain and critters don't come in on him! 14th Alabama CSA..

I removed the bluing from mine by using Vinegar. It is a slower process initially but once it takes off the bluing disappears quickly. At first I was not sure about what I had done because the bluing on my Uberti is beautiful. But, I really like the unblued cylinder now and it looks more original.

I have been off of the Walker board for a few weeks and just got back on tonight and was excited to see that you are doing something with my Colt Walker "Long Range Express" concept. The Long Range Express started off as sort of a joke while I was playing around in PhotoShop but the more I looked at it the more I loved what I had done. I emailed Uberti with all of my photos but never heard back from them. I had made several images with different barrel lengths out to 22 inches. It might take someone like yourself to build such a one off prototype, which will initially be expensive, but if there is a high enough demand you may be on the leading edge of selling the long barrels since they can easily be attached. The shoulder stock and method of attachment will be the difficult part because the frames will have to be modified, which means the owner will have to ship the frame in for the relief cuts. I would think that some sort of a small docking adapter could be engineered and added to the frame by using the existing two frame screws at the top of the backstrap. Although this deviates from the original way a shoulder stock was attached, a new 2009 techology will have to be employed to overcome the attachement problem. If someone like yourself could get this idea off of the ground, Walker owners would have a mighty fine carbine option. I can only imagine how much more accurate it would be.

If you upload pictures from PhotoBucket, I believe, after a length of time, they expired leaving your post without photos. If you upload your photos directly from your computer onto your forum posting, they'll always remain there. Plus, this method is easier than using PhotoBucket.
 
As long as you leave your pic's on photobucket, don't alter the file name, the link well be good. I have been using it for over five years, thirty pages of photos. Not all forums allow direct uploads.
 
Hi TC,

A few additional comments coming from your latest post, but I am also going to start an irregular series of progress reports so those of you interested in the project will know how it is travelling.

The challenge is certainly going to be the stock for a number of reasons so I am starting with a 3rd Model Dragoon as a pilot exercise. If I can get an actual Long Range Express complete and working, with a Walker along side it, then the exercise is going to be a lot easier for my gunsmith as neither of us are expecting problems with the custom barrel.

The main expense is going to be making the LRE out of both a Dragoon and a Walker but I feel that by going the Dragoon route first then I will save on a lot of ‘gunsmith experimental work’ and come out ahead overall but with two of them.

I am electing for an 18” barrel as the weapon looks nicely proportioned at that length. Also I read a report on another forum that in the States you cannot use a shoulder stock unless you have at least an 18” barrel. Could anyone comment on that please?

I am not really interested in cornering any markets as I am (unsuccessfully) attempting to retire but will willingly pass on full details so the exercise may be replicated in the USA with the sharp edges already knocked off of it. However my gunsmith may be interested in supplying custom long barrels and an order for several would get the price down. I will talk to him about it.

Let’s see how we go but I am certainly going to appreciate advice from you guys on this forum. I will post the first LRE Progress Report later today.

I might possibly be interested in one depending upon final cost. Would be a neat toy for sure. Although I wonder how shipping things in from Australia will go as far as firearm parts ;) As far as the grip handle.............. Once the correct dimensions are figured out a basic template could be used and a little time on the mill could open the bottom of the grip frame up.

I was the one that posted this guide. I disagree that any steps were omitted or that they were in the wrong sequence. If you follow the guide carefully, you will be able to post to the forums; this is exactly how I post pictures. Take another look at it, as I've added instructions on how to upload pics to the THR server. If you have any questions on how to do this, just let me know and I'll do what I can to help.

A. Walker..Hey, don't get insulted or anything. I'm not calling you a liar.
I really don't want to post with THR's site. I used it for a few months and it seemed as though it was always breaking down or just dragging along terribly slowly. I went over to PB and now I just can't remember....It seem's to me that I went to the post where I wished the photo to appear. Can't remember if I then clicked anything or what it was. Then I went to PB and clicked IMG. Then I went backwards using the button in the top left corner until I arrived bac at my post. I don't remember if I then clicked on anything or not and if so, what it was and where it was located. PB always worked good for me. I just can't remember exactly what I done and how I done it..Deeply appreciate your offer of help. 14th Alabama CSA.
 
Ok Gentleman of the Charcoal, I figured out what you need to do, but I use imageshack.us instead of photobucket.

First upload your pic there,
then it takes you to the next page automatically. scroll down and double click and copy or Ctrl C the box that says "Hotlink for forums 1" (don't choose 2).

Then just paste it in your text here, and it appears like here.

Clermont, the photos I posted on PB are still there, no problem. Two photos I transferred from PB to the Walker Club are still on the Walker site. I believe page 2 or 3. It could be page 4 but I don't think so....I looked at them the other day but I'm not sure of the exact page number....14th Alabama CSA.
 
Shooting Sam. Several of those photos on PB are long gone from my camera. In fact, many of those photo's, to the best of my knowledge, exist no where except on PB. That was back before I had off site back-up for my computers....Most of the photos are on my computers also even as I type here. The computers haven't crashed or anything, but I don't wish to upload and post on THR's site. Already been through that years ago. 14th Alabama CSA.
 
I too have had problems with uploading photographs to this site, where I have no trouble with pictures as e-mail attachments. I'm going to try the forementioned 10 rules and see if I can get them to work.

Do not get excited too quickly - it is very early days yet and there is a long way to go - paved with a lot of dollars.

But damn! Would it not be nice to have a Walker like that?

Posting pic's the easy way. Take your picture, move it to your documents file, resize it. Go to "advanced posting" here, instead of "quick post". Choose the attachment icon on the top of the message box (paper clip), click on it to open up a dialogue box. On the top of the box will be an "Upload from your Computer" option, click on browse. This will directly open your documents. Click on the pic you want to insert, hit "upload" and you're done.
 
Well, I de-blued and polished my Walker's cylinder last night. What were they thinking when they put the blueing on it?? It looks fantastic. Thanks for the heads up on the vinegar deal Scrat. And Mother's polished it right up :)

Now in exchange for my usual $1,000 fee I'll give you another hint. :what:

After you get the cylinder polished, and when you get it cleaned up after shooting, give it a coat or two of a high-quality paste automobile wax (such as Mother's) or Johnson Paste Wax. It's unlikely it will rust or get dull, and is much better protection then any grease or oil.

Please send cash, I don't trust checks under the circumstances... :evil: :D
 
Noble Sniper, you can buy a pretty good bluing compound from Cabela's and maybe get it straightened back up again. I'm sorry you listened to Old Fuff and ruined what may have been a perfectly servicable revolver. Don't feel too awfully embarrassed about being tricked and duped...Good luck with everything. You'll probably never get your thousand dollars back. I'm pretty sure Old Fuff used the money to replace a wall, pock marked with so many bullet holes that it just eventually fell down on him..!!!! 14th Alabama CSA..
