Anyone else watching The Weapon Hunter? It's a Canadian show hosted by Paul Shull, a history buff and restoration expert who has a "loosely knit, highly secretive group of eccentric historians, battlefield-sleuths and arms collectors. Together they revive war relics and get them battle-ready. From sword fights to tank battles, Shull puts himself in harms way to feel the impact these weapons had and to discover how they revolutionized warfare."

The series premiere finds Shull in the Pacific Northwest, where he assists an enthusiastic collector who is hoping to get his prized possession, a World War II-era Sherman M10 Tank, back on the road in time for Veteran's Day. While searching for parts needed for the rebuild, Shull scours the stock of other tank-obsessed collectors scattered along the West Coast, gets behind the wheel of the Sherman's most feared rival, the dreaded German Tiger, and fires off some rounds from a tank-busting cannon.

Episode Guide

It's not bad, I always enjoy the historical aspect of firearms and weapons, so to me it's interesting and entertaining.

Cheers! M2

It is superb. But using the "guide" button on Direct tv, it is very hard to spot programs when trying to zoom ahead through several days of scheduled programs. And the fact that it is a Canadian show (about machine guns etc) seems strange, but maybe only American audiences have access to it?

I have watched 3 or 4 times. It is okay to see the technology. However, it doesn't meet the hype. Many of those "highly secretive" guys that he talks to have been on other TV shows and/or are involved in public performances and events. So that is misleading.

So they are on a tight time schedule for a rebuild adn the host supposedly goes around searching for parts and along the way, gets demonstrations of other gear that while cool, is completely counterproductive to the alledged time table. The segment where he gets vetted before being given contact information for a guy who has a part he needs was just plain stupid.

The sniper rifle episode was neat, but a lot of big to-do about nothing, searching out one expert sniper by having to find him in the woods first, really?

For me, I like seeing the technology on the show, but the story line is overly contrived.

If you are interested in the refurbishing of tanks, then check out the old episodes of Tank Overhaul.

Many US-produced non-network shows eventually get aired on a Canadian specialty channel,
and visa-versa. All of these channels have a voracious demand for content.

Meh more kooky built in drama "reality" tv o and the m10 wasn't a sherman it's a wolverine the sherman is a medium tank (with the exception of the jumbo) the wolverine was a tank destroyer with a much better gun than most shermans, not to mention a completely different body, suspension, and drive train.

I saw part of the quad show also and was completely unimpressed. For a guy who's super into history and weapons he seems to have no clue about any of it.

I watched three episodes, then stopped.
The maybe 10 minutes of actual gun bits are cool, but the rest is contrived and boring.
Plus, shows with 'whispered urgency' hosts annoy me.
