Just for fun:

Okay, the S has HTF and you can only grab one .45ACP handgun (sorry 9mm fans, just humor me), but all are available...

Which one and why?

Remember, only ONE and this may be the last handgun can ever get...

Hk USP .45ACP

Kimber Gold Match I 1911 .45ACP

Springfield Champion 1911 .45ACP

Springfield XD Tactical .45ACP

Sig P220R DAK .45ACP

Ruger P345 .45ACP

Ruger P90 .45ACP

Glock 21 .45ACP

Glock 30 .45ACP

I know there are plenty of other quality firearms out there and I'm sorry if yours isnt on the list. Just for fun and thanks for the input!

Kimber Gold Match I I guess. Thats the closest thing to what I would actually grap (a 5" Kimber Classic Stainless I).

I took the only one I own as of yet - the Sig P220.. even though you had to ruin it all with the -R model w/a DAK trigger :neener: Why? Reliability, accuracy, familiarity, and easy maintenance...

Ruger P90. It will never malfunction. It ain't a 1911, but I know it is super tough.

Without question - I'd reach past the Springers and Kimbers and Paras and grab one of the CZ97Bs.

I love my 1911s dearly, but here I have to go with what I know will work for me -- the Ruger P90. I've put more rounds through that pistol than any of my other .45s (more due to how long I've had it than any kind of prejudice), and I have no doubt in its abilities...

One of those guns for SHTF and it has to last me a lifetime as my only gun?

As much as I like XD's and as much as I admire Sig's, I voted USP 45. If it was the Sig P220 SAO, I might have had a different vote. :scrutiny:

I voted for the Glock 21 because that is what I have. The HK or the Kimber (or any of the others for that matter) may be just as reliable. However, I'm suspicious of MIM parts (especially extractors) on current production guns.

I also have an older Series 70 Colt that is just as reliable as the G21.

I voted P90 because it will always work, and can be used as short club if needed. Very simple, very reliable, quite accurate..... I would trust it.

Nice poll! :)

Despite being a dyed in the wool 1911 fan, in an emergency situation, where I might not be able to give the handgun the normal attention/TLC it normally gets, I'd go with the USP45, followed closely by the GLock 30.

The USP eats everything you feed it without complaint, I'm fond and familiar with its manual of arms, and its amazingly rugged.

I was actually JUST drooling over an HK USP45CT at Dury's yesterday.

XD

Springfield XD Tactical. You gotta love 14 rounds of .45ACP in an ergonomic package. Great reliability, easy field stripping, good gun.
Then again, if S-REALLY-H-T-F then I would grab a Glock or 1911 so I could easily get replacement parts.~Nathan

I voted for the Kimber, because I want a 1911, for my next purchase. I own the Ruger P345, and its a fine weapon, and if I could vote for another, it would be the XD45:)

I voted for my Glock 21 over my glock 30. Even though i carry the 30. When SHTF I want something with a little more size and capacity.

I've had horrible luck with Kimber (won't own another EVER, even if it were free), a lot of frustration with Springfield (in all fairness, it was a used gun), a bad sig 220 (underbored barrel that squibbed with factory FMJ), the glock is the only gun manufacturer besides S&W & Ruger that hasn't given me any problems ever.

Most importantly though, i shoot pretty well with the 21 :)

I'll take a Glock.

I read through that web page / forum thread where the guy took his Glock 21 and froze it, filled it with sand, ran it over with his truck, threw it out of an airplane, &c... I think I can count on it to go bang when it has to.

G21 for reliability and capacity. The p220 with the DAK trigger has not been out in the public long enough for me to trust it completely, although I suspect it will be fine.

XD .45 acp tactical

Enough said. I can't miss with this handgun at 50 ft. 14 rounds of .45 acp makes a big statement.

:)

I went with the springfield champ.
First STAINLESS. in other words...no rust...EVER. and because this will be the last gun i ever own, who knows what situation ill be in for the next 40 years of my life.
Second, 1911? proven time and time again...
Third. SA makes a good gun, my girlfriend has one, and i wish it was mine!

note: why would anybody pick a 500$ gun over a 800$ gun? dont you GENERALLY get what you pay for?

First STAINLESS. in other words...no rust...EVER.

Just a word of caution: stainless steel isn't.
Stainless is rust-resistant, especially in a dry climate, but ALL ferrous metals (ie all steels) can and will rust given circumstances.

Stainless is nice, and easy to care for, but it most definitely can rust.

I voted for the Glock 21 - mainly because it has 13+1 capacity, and I have about 20 normal capacity magazines for it.

I also like the H&K USP45, and the Springfield Armory TRP Operator 1911. All three are so good that it would be a tough choice.

Tough Choice...

I went with the H&K USP, because I've had one, and it was absolutely reliable. I purchased it used from a police officer, and it certainly had the marks of use and abuse, so I'm confident that it's a durable piece. Magazine capacity is a bonus, too.

Of course, I've got a Springfield XD45 on order, so my choice might change in a year or so. I've heard good things about it, and I hope it lives up to its reputation.
