My local newspaper is one of the many gutless media outlets that will not print the muslim cartoons on the grounds of being "tolerant":barf: to the Muslim culture. I am thinking about doing a one man demonstration outside the office of the local newspaper. I would write up a petition of sorts for people to sign, saying that they think that the cartoons should be published as well as have a big sign saying "Herald afraid of free speech, Print the Mohamad cartoons." or something to that effect, as well as having the cartoons on the sign. (If anyone has a better idea for a sign please let me know.)

From what I understand, if I am on the street corner on the public sidewalk I should be fine from a legal standpoint. The petition is nothing official and I should be covered under the 1st amendment. Anyone have any advice for me.

I apologise if this is off topic, but I feel this is one of the better places to ask this.

Maybe collect cartoons with other provocative but insensitive and possibly tasteless messages religious, and request they be published all together.

Most religions have big skeletons in their closets that are real issues, but not tasteful to discuss or satirize.

    For instance:
    - If - the message of the cartoon with Mohammed wearing a bomb-turban symbolized that some individuals of that faith use bombs fanatically and hide behind the religion.

    - Then - If there were a cartoon published about the Priests that molest kids, and the same formula were used, guess what it would show... Jesus, doing something...

Yea, I bet people would be pretty P-O'd.

The message of the cartoon was legitimate, the presentation was of poor choice. Imo.

    Google Images is your friend.

Anyone who hasn't seen the cartoons by this point just isn't interested.

    I have to disagree.

Should Rosa Parks have moved to the back of the bus? I think she quite clearly illustrates the power of one persn demonstrating, if done at the right place and time.

OK, you have a REALLY good point right there. Mabbe I better sit on this for awhile and cool off before I do anything. Reding the editorials can get me really worked up.

    That's the thing.

The so-called "MSM" is free to be as biased as they like, but due to how widespread the 'net has become their obvious bias simply serves to marginalize them. They are no longer the information gatekeepers.

I agree with fjolnirsson. One man can make quite a difference.
