Thinking Of Dpms Purchase A 15

Have a ?, and need to decide by Sunday, I was offered a deal on a DPMS A15 post ban w/ telescoping stock,223 cal, / and 2 /30 round mags. Dealer said they where new on the market. I know a little bit about ar15 types but I can't find any info on this model. The dealer said it was his first one since the ban lifted. The model # only had A 15 printed on the side. Any info. Thanks :confused: P.S. I really trust your judgements from THE HIGH ROAD Members
 
Here's one I picked up a couple weeks ago. It is marked A-15 on the receiver. I bought it as a complete lower without an upper. Not as a complete rifle. I think all DPMS ar's are marked A-15. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. What's the deal he's offering. I ordered my lower and upper together, and have $606 in it including shipping, minus the sight.

Thanks for responding, The cost is 699. , and the dealer told me it was the latest out since the ban lifted.
 
Yes Jason, it looks the same except for the sights you put on, What are they btw, and what upper did you put on. I just thought he was cutting me a break, also trading my P3 At so the deal is 500, out the door.... I'm open to any suggestions. And TY for the Quick responses, also comes w/ 2 /30 rd mags
 
Grab a copy of Shot gun news. I bought mine from rguns.net. I think keisler and a couple others in there have DPMS lowers and a lot of different uppers. I know (because I did) you can put one together for less than $699.
Plus no TAX! On $699 depending on where you live could be around another $50 to $60.

Mine is the DPMS 16" M-4 upper. The way I bought mine it didn't come with mags, but, they have the mags for I think $14.00 for the DPMS ones. Also you will need a FFL dealer to do the transfer. Typicaly most FFL's charge about $20.00 for that service. Gunbroker.com has a FFL transfer directory that you can search for someone local to you. With what you save on TAX pays for you FFL transfer and mags.

Well, TY both for the quick replies. I've got a decision to make so I guess I'll sleep on it. One of the main reasons, the dealer is giving me about 190 for my Kel Tec P3AT , which I never really liked, only losing "which I hate" about 30 bucks and I really hate trying to sell that outright. most others only offered about 150. and as I said $500 w/ trade out the door so I guess if I consider tax and state check which together is about 50. I'm just trying to get more info on it, reliability , QC of DPMS, and if I can put a different upper on it later. Basically if its a decent/short- long arm. The dealer suggested if the ban gets re-enacted the value would also go since its post ban w/ the telescopic Butt.
 
From what I see, DPMS is very good quality. If you looking to get out of your Kel-Tech and you would be happy when the deal is done. Then it is a good deal. DPMS lowers are mil spec as are most except civialian colts. Most any upper from any manufacture again except colt will fit your DPMS lower. Colt's will fit if you use adapter pins but that is kind of a pain in the butt.
As for the value if or when another ban... Coulda shoulda woulda... Who knows what can, could, is, or isn't gonna happen. Buy what you want and enjoy.

Don't know if I can help or not.I have owned quite a rew AR's of different makers.All worked fine.chose DPMS as a competition rifle.I have absotuly no regrets.It shoots better than I ever will.
 
Well again, TY all very much for your input. I think I'll sit and waite until I'm really sure of which model I'd really enjoy. I'm checking w/ my local club to see if they get any deals and also to possibly try a few variants of the A15 out. Again, Thank You ;)
 
have2rotties, what kind of sight is that, how much was it, and where did you get it? I'm getting my upper today, my lower thrusday, and am thinking about an EoTech, unless I find something else I like for less.
 
It is an ATN ultra sight digital. It can be found around the net for about $159 - $189. I bought mine from Cabales. Cost a little more but I had Gift certs I needed to use. Nice field of view and 5 reticles, but, I haven't shot the rifle yet...

Well I finally got the DPMS lite, had trble w/ sighting in, called DPMS, they said send it back on their acct. And while there had the barrel changed for chrome-lined 16" m4 "NO-BAN" and added a goose neck to co-witness a red-dot "if I ever get the $$ for one. also added a pad for the the end of the telescopic butt, I have long arms and its was difficult to get a fit to shoulder. Other than that just awaiting its arrival back. So far though I'm Impressed w/ their service though- I called and asked how it was every 2-3days , "like an expectant father", Adam at DPMS answered just about any ? or concern I had. By the end of next week should have a report on it, AND THE FEEDING SCHEDULE..............JUST X-ING MY FINGERS HE'S HEALTHY AND CAN HIT WHAT HE SPITS AT
