Hey yall,

I have an AR that I've been thinking about selling because I don't shoot it much an would like to have some extra money to fix up my fourwheeler. I was wondering if yall could give me a rough estimate on what I should expect to get for it. It has less then 100rds through it and it's all been brass case ammo.

Here's the specs:

DPMS A2 Complete upper 5.56 16" Barrel 1x9twist
Stag Lower
DPMS LPK
Ace Skeleton Stock
Olympic Buffer Tube & Buffer
UTG brass catcher
5- 30rd mags (2 PMags, 3Stoner mags)
20rd PMag
5rd(Stoner mag)
aproximately 400rds of Remington UMC
40rds Remington 55gr Soft points
20rds Wolf FMJ

Thanks yall

$950.00-$1050.00 with all that stuff dosent sound bad. P.M. Delcodave. His post is around yours and he's looking to buy an AR.

taliv is much closer to the right answer somewhere in the $500-700 range probably closer to the lower end.

The AR market has fallen out. CDNN was/is selling complete factory S&W ARs for $599 after a rebate.

maybe it's just me, but you can get a brand new S&W for $599, which has the more desirable m4 upper instead of the antique A2. and it's a complete gun instead of a build (where the quality of assembly is unknown and unwarranteed)

in the free market, it's worth what you can get for it. you might be able to talk somebody out of $1000 for a used gun. but when you can get a colt A2 6520 for $899 or a complete dpms A2 like yours for $829, my guess is you should ask for less

edit: maybe it goes without saying, but now is the time to BUY ARs. you'd be crazy or desperate to sell one in this economy.

I'd say $600-800 wouldn't be unrealistic, but the upper end might be a little on the optimistic side.

I agree with taliv. The AR market is flooded right now.
Even when it's not flooded, I wouldn't pay more than $600.
Whatever you paid for, when you bought/built it, has little bearing on what it is worth at present. And, in general, people don't care for the "extras". They reflect your taste, not theirs.

Really? Jus the upper alone is worth close to $500
Yes, that's new retail from DPMS, but that's a used upper. The market has changed dramatically, and black rifle shoppers are much more savvy. For comparison, $530 gets you a new Stag flat top upper with chrome lined bbl and Midwest Industries rear BUIS. New lowers stripped are $100 retail. Fixed carry handle uppers just aren't in demand with the influx of inexpensive flat top uppers and inexpensive back up sights. A DPMS LPK is $65 new, but a RRA LPK with two stage match trigger can be found for a little more money.

You can't look at what the OP has in the rifle. You have to look at what a similar configuration rifle can be built for new, with arguably better parts. Then you have to factor in that it's a used kit rifle. The depreciation sucks, but it's reality.

450 rds ammo~$150, 5 mags @$10ea...plus $600 for the rifle, and NO PAPERWORK...

I'd ask $850, take $750-800.

Good luck.

I would say $500 for the rifle, $100 for the mags, and then $100-$150 for the ammo. That should go fairly quick. If you went for it a bit more it may or may not sell. It depends how fast you need money. If you are willing to wait a little, and know how to advertise right on gunbroker, you may be able to get a bit more out of it. Gunbroker seems to be a place where you can get a bit extra out of a firearm if you know how to post things right and are willing to sit on it a little while.
