This can not be real.......

That's over $100 per box. The question we need to be asking is who is really buying it. None of us have pockets that deep, and the shortage isn't that bad, even though it is somewhat annoying.

Conspiracy theory, I don't think it's a gun owner.

It's an Obamanation....anyway I have some 30 carbine I was thinking of selling there but didn't know if s&h would be a hassle plus the listing fees and all that but at those prices it *may* be worth it

Guys relax. It's BS.

Take a look at the bid history. It went from 450 straight to 2075.

Someone isn't getting paid :)

I have seen this stunt on e-bay and others. Here is my account of what happened.........

Hey friend I had an auction but I decided not to sell
Friend: oh wow how can I help?
Seller: Why dont you log on and make a whacked out purchase no one will out bid you for.
Friend: well how about $2700
Seller:gee thanks friend want to shoot my .357?

And there you have it.

Sometimes people will enter astronomically high bogus bids to "punish & deny" the seller from selling either something way overpriced, or stupid.

That's the worst thing you can do. All auctions will allow you to cancel your listing. If you let a friend end it by bidding an outrageous amount the seller will have to pay a big final vaue fee. And that makes no sense.

Not necessarily.... the winner could have bid $999,999 because he REALLY wanted THAT ammo. I've seen it happen... I've purchased and sold thousands of items on Ebay and Gunbroker. People will bid unrealistic amounts and not expect someone to bump it up to make the person who outbid them pay more.

The buyer COULD be legitimate, the guy who pushed the price up could of just bumped the bid because he got mad or something and couldn't beat the winner.

The bid history is shown out of chronological order.

Here it is in reverse order with unsuccessful bids removed.

The last real bid was $450, then the next real bid was $2075.

Slim chance that's genuine. Doesn't seem to pass the smell test.

Maybe just a sign of the times?

I think it is totally believable.

What do you want to bet the winning bidder's feedback rating of 2 = a brand new .357 mag & a holster. What if he/she bought a .357 & can't find ammunition for it ANYWHERE? Probably scared to death...

How many of us wouldn't line up to sell our ammo @ $2+ a rd.? I just feel bad for the person who's so scared of (whatever) that they max out their credit-card on a weapon & fodder....

BTW - looking @ most of the "How much ammo is enough" threads on a LOT of forums, the average comments are "1 K".

None of us have pockets that deep

Sorry but there are many folks who do.

If someone wants something bad enough and has the cash, they will pay it.

It may not be practical to many, but so what.

Who do you think buys 200k Lambo's or over 1 mil original Cobras? Who do you think buys corporate jets as personal transportation?

Thank God the world doesn't revolve around your wallet.
