Today, at about 10:25 a.m. CST, I called the A&R Gun Range at 2631 32nd Avenue N, in Texas City, Texas. I was greeted by an nasty, ill tepered man! After asking him to transfer me to the range's proprietor, he told me "fu@* you!" and slammed down the telephone!
This obviously reflects poorly on the shooters in the Galveston/Texas City communities. Their telephone # is, 281-337-1722. I am posting this on at least four different forums. perhaps with enough pressure on this range, we can have this individual removed from his position. IMHO, ths would do us all a great deal of good!

I asked to speak to the range proprietor. The clerk should have immediately transferred me to him without question. A man in that position is NOT a "gate keeper." No anti-gun remarks were made, nor were any implied. That was the story. I simply wanted to discuss advertising with the range's proprietor. The attendant had no right to engage in either controversy, nor profane remarks!

This kind of behavior is what brands gun owners as "mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging, Cro Magnon, sub-humans!" Is this the type of image you wish to have perpetuated? I didn't think so.

These morons need to be removed from the public eye, so that our reputations as civil individuals need not be dragged through the dirt by the "liberal Commiecrats."

Does that clarify things? Good!

Sorry, not at all outraged here. At most, your report reflects upon the supposedly unpleasant person who answered the phone, the person who may or may not have hired him, and you the reporter. No reflection on the shooting community in Galveston, Texas City, or anywhere else. This thread, if it survives, may reflect well or poorly on The High Road, depending on the quality of the responses posted, but only dimly: my response really illuminates only my attitude and other qualities, it does absolutely nothing to tell the reader about any of the many thousands of members who will not even read, much less respond to, your thread.

Was there anything in the call which would confirm that you did, indeed, actually reach A&R Gun Range? You don’t have to receive very many misdialed calls to get a bit testy.

Did you call back? Were the results similar the second time?

Have you any news of what may have been taking place at the range at the time? Was your call actually taken by an employee?

Details, details, details, PLEASE!

This is inecscusable behavior from any employee, in any business!!!

If I were you:

I would note the date and time of the call, and make an apperance in person. Talk to the owner, tell him what happened. I'll bet dollars to donuts he'll know who the hothead was. If the employee didn't state you had reached A&R Gun Range, it is possible you misdailed. If you didn't misdail, I'm sure the owner would want to know about this. POW-WOW session is in order here(after you've cooled off a bit).

At the very least you've done what you can to reduce any further negativity among/from a member of the shooting community.

If you do follow up, please give us an update.

I just called the A&R Gun range once again, and to my shock (and dismay) that the same individual that answered the telephone this morning, was the same voice that was on their answering machine, (announce only) informing me of their Concealed Weapons Class times!

This is, IMHO, inexcusable! If anyone wants to tell them the kind of trouble that he has caused, you have their telephone number. Its YOUR image, and YOUR freedoms! Is this the way that you want the State of Texas and its shooting community viewed?

You tell ME!

I hope the person at the number you posted has a sense of humor because the area code you posted is NOT the area code for Houston/Galveston/Texas City:).

Glenn

Glenmar:

I have been calling the Galveston/Texas City Area for 2 1/2 weeks! This was NO error... Just a man running a gunrange that lacks hemmorhoids. He's a perfect *******!

Turn about is fair play..

Won’t you, in the spirit of turnabout being fair play, please identify the name of the company you represent and give us both the phone number and physical address?

Glenmar is correct - the area code 218 is northern MN. I know because I grew up there. Just in case, I just had to just check with the parents and they confirm the northern part of the state is still there and still 218.

Well, at least there really is an A&R Gun Range. It is on Gun Range Rd. in League City TX and the area code is 281 (This was NO error... ) and the rest of the number matches.

As I am on the national "no call list" and every telemarketer that wastes my precious time costs me money, I often tell anybody persistant enough to demand the 'owner' , after informing them they are in danger of being fined if they call again, to ............:neener:

According to a quick web search the 218 area code is around Duluth Minnesota

The point has been established, but 218 is more or less the northern half of Minnesota. (Check my location for how I know.) That's pretty far away from Texas...

I'll let you in on a little secret!

Business to business telemarketing is; a) realtively unrestricted, b) not against any law as is some business to homeowner telemarketing.

If someone is courteous, I have no problem. 'fu*# you' may be YOUR idea of courtesy, but it is still a 'bubbaism' in the business world. This man is an idiot. Perhaps this is how all texans should be viewed.

What a sterling example of a well-rounded vocabulary! If these are the "eyes of Texas," I certainly hope that she goes blind... and soon! :neener: :scrutiny: :barf:

As Huck Phinn pointed out, the correct area code is 281. Gunfan had to be calling the correct area code since he got the range he was looking for. I have corrected the first post so that someone in MN doesn't get any calls due to this.

Lone Star: I certainly hope that I never meet you! Since you are a Senior member, I'll attibute your remark to having a 'senior moment.'

May you be ignored by very sales person that you meet. May your restaurant food contain salmonella (from neglect) and may you be cheated at every gunshow that you attend!
