I can't believe people sometime.

Here's an excerpt from a post I found on another forum...
A guy and his wife were shooting CZs and, noticing my wife and I shooting Berettas, came over and started bad-mouthing them.
What possesses someone to approach someone else out of the clear blue and do something like this?

I just don't get it.

Sheer rudeness, I think...

Too bad duels are outlawed. If they hadn't been, at least you both had your "weapons of choice" at hand. :D

Honestly, though, if someone started badmouthing my AK while I'm at the range, I'll just load up another mag and start blasting away at the paper whether they're finished talking or not. I figure that sooner or later they'll take the hint that I just don't care for their opinion, and that they'll leave.

If they don't, I'll ask them nicely to mind their own business. If even that doesn't work, then I just tell the RO I'll be back in an hour while I go get more ammo. Better to just leave a situation that's just plain annoying than get angry over it... especially when firearms are involved.

Sheer rudeness, resulting from a bad upbringing and or mental illness.

That's not half as bad as someone asking if your Beretta goes "Whop Whop instead of bang bang."

I'm sad to say that I found that anger managment classes are a waste of time for me.

Heck no!

I wouldn't touch a CZ if you paid me!

What the heck kind of a lowlife communist would own one of THOSE things anyway? :scrutiny:

:neener:

I dont think someone badmouthing someone elses' gun is racist, but it is downright rude.

I would have drew back my target, looked at the one ragged hole, then look at his target, then point and laugh!

You see this everywhere.

My car/truck/gun/motor oil/computer/video card is the best.

Ok, maybe its not the best, but its better'n yours :)

15 years ago, the Amiga computer came out and man - for 10 years, Amiga owners were the most annoying computer people ever because they were all mindless religious zealt drones.

Whatever - I think the ancients would be fascinated by the segments of our society who admire and acquire the best tools, but show no interest in perfecting their craft.

Hey, I had an Amiga!:scrutiny:

Somebody sounds jealous that their 'puter wasn't as cool as mine.

Just so you know, I think it's only appropriate to let someone know when they're committing a fashion felony. I mean really, who wouldn't want to know that the gun they spent good money on sucks.

The guy must have issues

I had a Commodore (still do), couldn't afford the Amiga:) But I have never seen or heard of a stranger walking-up and badmouthing someone else's gun. Thats like talking dirt on a guy's dog, it just isn't done!

Of course you can duel in this case. Set up two targets downrange. Have him shoot one until slide lock or 10 seconds pass while you do the same. Best target wins.

You could sweeten the pot by shooting for ammo or "pink slips" (each other's gun), but then you'd end up w/ a Beretta--and who'd want THAT?...:scrutiny:

;)

It's not the gun anyway that makes the shooter.

Case in point at the trap range this weekend. I'm there with my 870 pump gun....$260 out the door at Bass Pro. Then there's the guys with their Kreighoffs, Perazzis, etc and they're looking at me like I'm straight out of Deliverance.

They changed their tune when I tied or beat all of them, save one guy who was actually very good.

Hey, that could almost be me.

I shoot CZ's and hate Berettas.

Only problem is that I have manners. I don't offer my opinions unless they're asked for. Besides, unless their Beretta was failing on them constantly, why ruin their good time? I don't care if they're shooting a Jennings. Be safe and have fun.

That obviously didn't happen in Texas, John...

Every real Texian knows you don't insult a man's gun, truck(or horse), dog, or woman. It's neither seemly nor healthy to do so.

Regards,
Rabbit.

Closed minds

I own a CZ 75B: I also have a curiosity regarding all makes of firearms.
One of my range buddies and I switched handguns for a range session: I fell in love with his Beretta 92 and he really enjoyed my CZ.

Those "people" who alledgedly badmouthed a fellow shooter's Italian
Stallion showed bad breeding.....The guy must have married his sister:neener:

Being from Texas, I would never bad mouth anyone's gun but now that you know your Beretta is no good maybe you would want me to take it off your hands. You could send it to me, I would take it to the range and save you all that abuse. I realize how nice it is of me to do that, but you must realize...that's just me!:D

Guns suck......... Yeah they suck up my bullets, way to fast no less.. Boy do I love feeding my guns.......
I don't bad mouth any weapons, I like my guns, though I will be selling my Beretta 96 off tomorrow, I can buy another one later.... I WILL NEVER PART WITH MY HK USP, NEVER....... My Glock is a good one too....

Shoot on,

Certainly not the best way to strike up a conversation with someone. It's akin to walking up to a guy's car and then criticizing it. I suppose that shooter to be sent off to Dale Carnegie's Charm School.

Oh No! Not Dale Carnegie! I took one of those classes last year. Something about group therapy/motivational course and hearing about everyone elses problems just doesn't do it for me. There were some valuable lessons to be learned though.

Anyway. Can't we all just get along!

My CZ-75 PCR and Beretta 8000

Wasn't me, since I own and like both.

If it were HK, I'd probably have wondered out loud if the guy was a tactical poseur who's drinking HK brand kool-aid.

I can understand having strong preferences. However, I can't imagine walking up to a stranger apropos of nothing and telling him his gun is garbage.

I just don't understand how anyone could think that was anything besides incredibly rude.

It goes beyond being just rude--it's as if these people have no clue about what is acceptable behavior and what isn't. Don't people get taught to be polite and have manners these days?
