Does anyone have the snub 629 with the bear laser etching on the frame as well as the paw laser etching on the unfluted cylinder. How durable is the laser etching will it last with regular cleaning with CLP?

It would take a lot of cleaning to wear it off I betcha.

S&W has been using the process for some years now and even mark serial numbers with it.

CLP sure isn't going to take it off, as it is burnt into the surface of the steel.

That's what I figured RC. You know how you see something you fall in love with it and then have second thoughts. I of course was looking for any reason not to buy because I am torn between a 1911 and the 629 :)

Well, it being a ported snub-nose .44 Magnum would be plenty enough reason for me not to buy it.

It makes my ears bleed just thinking about it.

But that's just me I guess.

Thank you RC. I knew they could but don't have a 44mag with unfluted cylinder.

But I could just get the Bruin put on my 629.

I saw one of those in a gunshop about 12 years ago. I wanted it so bad but couldn't afford it. I think it was around $600-$650. I don't like porting either, but it is one sweet looking gun. I assume you have one you're looking at to buy? How much, if you don't mind me asking?

DC

I do not mind at all like everything else the price has gone up but my region with weapons moving like they are and CCW classes being packed it's not bad.

Shop has a brand new one they are asking $749

I see them on auction sites for $750 to $999

I'd buy it. I can come up with a gun that I'd give up really fast for a new one of those. And yes, nothing is getting cheaper. Sounds like a good deal on a smoking hot gun.

A year or two after I passed on that one, I ended up buying a 629 V COMP and really love it.

My personal opinion is, I don't like ported guns & I don't like non-fluted cylinders. That's me, but if it pleases you, go for it.
