This afternoon I purchased a used (pre-agreement) S&W model 908 at a local gunshop for $199. I took it to the range tonight and fed over 200 rounds of mixed ammo (American Eagle, Winchester, Wolf) through it without a problem. My only complaint about the gun so far is that the slide is almost completely void of finish. I'm thinking about using Brownells Moly coat spray and bake finish, but wondered if anybody else had any other options for a finish. I'm also probably going to either make a set of wood grips or buy a set of hogues to go with it. Looks like a nice pistol.

Good gun....the finish is it's only drawback....moly should work well...and if it makes you feel any better you can order a solid steel guide rod to replace the plastic one......

That's a nice price on a good little gun. The 908 is a great carry piece...slim, accurate, reliable, and easy to tote. You can always carry it "as is", finish wear adds character. At any rate, you'll be pleasantly surprised how fast that 908 will grow on you.
