My 1858 Remington

I would like into the club please. I have a 1858 Remington Copy made by Armi San Paolo for CVA in 1976. For anyone who may not know Armi San Paolo does not exist anymore they are now Armi San Marco. Sorry the photos are not the best.

The Don,
It's my recollection that ASP became Euroarms. ASM quit producing a few years ago and Euroarms just recently.

EMailM1CombatCar0087.jpg

It comes from one of my other hobbies, building model armor. Not that I would ever want to be around one of the damn things in a real battlefield situation. The one thing I learned as a Marine Corps Scout Sniper and Rifleman, stay as far away from armor as possible, every little zipperhead with a BB Gun wants to shoot at it, you'll likely catch the riccochets as a matter of course.:D

Treadhead1952,

Thank goodness! I thought you were one of them #@&*#@# tankers because of your handle. RPG magnets tened to be crewed by folks that made fun of us leather personel carrier riders when I was in. I remember fondly one day when the crew of a passing M60 A2 tossed empty soda cans at us as we trooped along the shoulder of a road and when we topped the next hill heard and saw them screaming for help and running about the exterior of the vehicle as a fire swept through their turret full of plastic 152 HE rounds. None of them were hurt and the CO 2 canisters finally went off (appearently they had been wired in with the same wire we used on our MG gas systems rather than the light easily parted stuff they should have had)and smothered the elctrical fire but we were happy to simply move off the shoulder and into the ditch to await any fireworks.

We had much the same opinion of Mech Infantry behind their backs but still they were better than anyone else.

-kBob

The one in the front is an M3 Stuart, one of the former US Army tanks that the future Army tankers used to learn their chops on Stateside. When they recieved nice shiny new M3A2 Stuarts with upgrades, their M3 training tanks were re-issued to USMC tank crews who promptly took them to the Pacific for a little island hopping and teaching the Imperial Japanese Marines and Army troops why they really didn't want to keep all those sandy islands out there after all.;)

The one in the back is actually the same model that I converted to an M1 Combat Car, the great grand pappy of the entire Stuart line of tanks. It was named a Combat Car to hide what it actually was from a peacetime Congress who would have refused any sort of support for actual armor at the time (1930's). This was when then Captain George S Patton, Major Dwight D Eisenhower, and other names you would recognize from WWII which were for the most part preceded by the term "General" were guiding a peacetime military through training that would allow them to go into WWII and have a half a chance of being efficient at their jobs.

The armarment of the M1 Combat Car consisted of a .50 caliber Browning Machine Gun on one side of the turret and a .30 caliber Browning MG on the other. There were two more .30 caliber Brownings mounted on either side of the lower hull in the sides as well as a hull mounted one at the radio operators position and another .30 caliber Browning in an anti aircraft mount on the rear of the turret. This was in use at the same time the Germans were using 7.5 Cm cannon as their primary turret mounted artillery. The entire US Army Armor Force was just over 300 Light and Medium tanks total for the entire country in 1938. The German Armored forces at the time could field 4 times as many, much more heavily armored and armed vehicles that they used to run rampant over Poland, Czechkoslavakia and France in the opening months of WWII.

Okay, history lesson over with. let's go back to 1858 Remingtons and all their lovely variations. ;)

Nope. But it would have helped if you had put them in a new post instead of revising an old one.

Jay, forgive me for not gittin right back to yer post.

Hi Jim,

If you go to the Tandy Leather Site:

http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/

Then look at the headers and click on the one that says "Leathercraft Library", it will take you to another web site that has all their downloadable stuff. If you want to purchase something you will need either a Pay Pal Account or a credit card and have to register. The are translating a lot of their old books and pattern packs into PDF files that you can purchase and download right there.

The "Percussion Pistol Pattern Pack" is selling for $9.95. It is a PDF File that you can download and print out on your home printer. The actual patterns are on large shhets, to make them usable they have sliced them up into printable pages that you can tape back together to form the original sized sheets.

I will admit that I have bought up a bunch of their stuff and am having entirely too much fun making it up.

Thanx for the link. I was able to find all i wanted and more.
Check out there "Law Dog Holster" pack.:D
I'll hafta find time to git to the library tho for the pdf files.
My pc would have an anurism if i tried it here.
I know what ya mean 'bout havin entirely too much fun with Tandy products.
That place is like a candy store to me.:D

Hey, Nobody!

Is that a wine box you are using for a pistol box? I am using one for an equipment box as the ones I have are an inch or two too short for my full sized NMA. Looks like all I have to do is get a 5.5 inch and I can use the wine boxes I have. I must tell the wife how buying a new NMA can save money by allowing me to use existing boxes!

Meanwhile check out my post on using the Cabela's styrofoam tray from their Pietta. I wonder if two 5.5 inchers might not fit?

Can I join! Here's my new shooter, picked it up today.
