Anyone know what these holes in the Shockbottle case gauge are for? My curiosity is killing me.

Looks like the attachment points for the optional beer can holder.:neener: --------Really though, no idea! Go to their site and look around the answer might be obvious then.:scrutiny:

I went to their site some time back. No mention of the threaded holes.

Obviously so it could be mounted somewhere. Lots of reloaders use pegboard on the wall at their benches, it would be simple to shove a couple bolts through from the back and have it conveniently mounted. Not like it has to hold a lot of weight.

How would you dump the rounds out after checking them? :uhoh:

I don't know what they are for, either. But one thing is certain, cutting threads is not their strong suit.

Well they certainly have a purpose.
The mfg wouldn't spend the time just make it look pretty.

Just like ants, using 'em to hang it for finishing would be my vote

What is the difference between the silver and black gauges?

The black gauges are anodized for longer life and appearance. The silver gauges are not and are therefore slightly more accurate, but will wear out somewhat sooner (you should still get tens of thousands of rounds or more out of either). The black gauges have 1/4-28 accessory mounting holes while the silver ones mostly do not. Some gauges are not available in black for manufacturing reasons

I would agree with the idea that the holes are simply there for black finish. If you read the FAQ section on their website you'll find the following:

So the black gauges have holes but the silver ones don't. If the holes had any other purpose, why wouldn't they put them in the un-anodized gauges?

The manufacturer calls them "accessory mounting holes." If they were there to facilitate the anodized finish why would they call them accessory mounting holes? What accessories can be mounted on the gauge?

I don't claim to know, I'm on my asking questions too.

If they had accessories to mount to their gauges, why would they assume only the people who buy black gauges would wish to mount accessories?

The ones with the holes are their multitasking model, case gauge plus 1/4-28 thread gauge.

Yeah, I'm going with the beer can holder, NOT GOOD! (But funny!) Dad always said to be sober when reloading or shooting! AND DO NOT SMOKE!
