Three inch barrel revolvers, a weakness ?

I bought this Rossi back about 1978, my first 3” barrel revolver.

Not trying to stretch the limits of this thread but the second picture is a John Wayne commemorative Ruger Single Six in 32 H&R magnum. It has a 3 and 3/4” barrel. And yes, I do shoot it. I bought it used and it had been shot already.

Buying a pretty gun not to shoot it is like marrying a pretty girl not to kiss her.

I don't know if it's true or not, but I was told many years ago that Rossi purchased S&W's older tooling and patterns at some point.
I wouldn't at all be surprised. My M88 is so close to my old S&W 60 it's spooky (as Dame Edna would say). When my S&W 63 was stolen, my insurance allowed me to buy two Rossi revolvers that were just as accurate. I still miss my 63, but I love these Rossis.

Wish I could remember the model numbers, but these actually have some advantages over it.

Rossi built some fine revolvers in the 80s, but Taurus didn't. They were garbage. Beautiful, but the Model 66 I had just had holes in the cylinder; 357 bullets fell straight through them. Couldn't hit the proverbial side of a barn.

..

Sold my 1970 Python and got two 3" Ruger's and change too.

A solid go to revolvers that just keeps getting better the more you shoot them.

I had a 3 inch Smith 65. Sweet. Had that "tink" sound when the hammer fell.
Had to sell it and have always regretted it. See 3 inch model 13 from time to time. Pricey. And now I think my fixed sight gun days are over.

Did pick up a Smith 686 plus that had a trip to the smith custom shop. Wicked accurate shooter, but not as easy to carry as the 65.
I will hang onto this one!

Picked up a ruger LCRx 3 inch. Large gun but weighs nothing. My AZ walking the dog gun in the summer. A couple snake shot loads and 3 wadcutters.
