My new Sig 1911T will have a 3 point jam with each mag. Is this typical? The Sig expert says to shoot it a lot, and it will eventually become reliable.
This has not been the case with my other brands of 1911's.I cleaned and lubed before going to the range. Is the Sig a little out of spec, compared to the original? [with exception of the extractor]. Your comments will be appreciated.

Is SIG known for making reliable pistols?

I believe I'd be politely insisting that they fix it most promptly, and on their nickle.

A modern-built gun that doesn't run like a top right out of the box is pretty much worthless in my mind. Now, if those SIGs are bottom-tier guns you'd buy as an experiment or to tinker with, sure maybe I'd have some patience with it.

If you didn't pay Armscor prices for it you need to be talking to them, I think.

Four out of the first seven rounds had a 3 point jam. It does jam 1/15 with a wilson 47D. I talked to the sig factory and was told, just continue to shoot it until it "breaks in". He would not allow me to send it to him, it had 26 rounds thru it by then . I have ran another 50 rounds thru it now. and it has not improved.
[NOTE} I have carried and used the 1911 platform since 1952, and I've had the 1911 armorers training. I presently have and shoot an assortment of other brands of 1911's, the each functioned right out of the box.
This sig is a two tone beautiful pistol. i am using it for a paperweight !

3pt jams are usually caused by OAL issues with the ammo or with magazines that don't let the rim come up fast enough.

What ammo and mags were you using for most of the issues?
