:D After being interested in Hi Powers now that I have been shooting for a few years, I decided to see what all the fuss was about. I already love the 1911 and have 3 of them, so single action is pretty normal to me as well as one of my favorite ways to carry (cocked & locked).
I had been keeping an eyeout to try one, and was thinking about an FEG because of the low cost to see if I liked the design. I found a used FEG PJK 9HP that had a cylinder & slide no bite hammer and sear, as well as XS night sights.
Needless to say I brought it home and quickly fell in love. I have never had a pistol be so easy to shoot well, it was like I did'nt even need to try that hard. I also liked the extra goodies it came with, too fun to shoot.
I had decided to get another one, and a FM HP came up on my local forum for a good price with 8 mags. I also jumped on that one.
It also shot well, and by now I am convinced that the Hi Power platform is perfectly made for me. All I did my self was pull the mag diconnect to improve the trigger pull.
The FM was completely stock, and shot well but I wanted to add a few touches. I decided to add a Novak Carry rear sight that I had laying around and had my gunsmith order me a C&S extended safety also. I dropped off the FM last week to have my Smithy mill the slide for the sights as well as fit the C&S safety.
I got it back a couple days ago and am tickled with the outcome. It is not the prettiest pistol in the world but IMHO it is perfect for HD and CC.

Here she is, let me know what you think!:D

My next move will be to get a real FN HP and I am sure I will love it as well!
Thanks for all the info on my new obsession, and by the way, its your guys fault!:neener:

FEGs are excellent pistols and still can be had at a 'reasonable' price.
Have several and they have all been very accurate, dependable shoots...
NO, they are not a Browning... but until you add a BHP to your collection, ENJOY!!

FN, FEG, and FM all make good Hi-Power pattern pistols. Just be careful, for as you already seem to know, Hi Powers have a tendency to multiply!

Ya, first it was 1911's growing on me and now Hi powers. I can't wait til I get my hands on a Browning or FN. I really enjoy the Argentine FM, so I can only imagine how sweet an FN will be!
Which model of HP already has the sights cut in a dovetail pattern to make aftermarket sights easier to install? Just curious what I should be looking out for in the future.

The FN/Browning Mk III...standard commercial production since 1989. In 1993 FN began replacing the forged frame (standard since 1935) with a tougher cast frame originally developed for the .40S&W Hi Power.

Current production FN/Browning Epoxy finish/Delrin grip Mk IIIs are called...what a surprise, "Mk III". The same pistol, of identical construction, with identical features...but finished in bright blue/wood grips, is called the "Standard" :scrutiny::rolleyes:
