Just saw on the news that you need to give a thumb print to buy ammo in California now. I'm sure it will spread. One more good reason to reload.

I agree, but unfortunately I believe the California law applies to bullets, powder and primers also.
I sure hope the NRA is all over this.

So if you live in Kali, stock up on reloading supplies before February 1, 2010 when the law goes into effect.

Hey Rusty.
Yup, can you believe what is happening to our country. Most of it is being taught in our schools and the media can have the rest of the blame. Hollywood is also selling it. By the time kids reach 18 here, they think guns are bad and shouldn't be sold. They seem to forget that criminals are not law abiding and they do not get their guns in the legal manner.
Sucks for someone like me since I live in southern California. I like that I can go to the mountains and snow board in the morning and then get back to the beach and surf at glass off late afternoon on the same day. I can still hunt and fish. I can shoot my firearns and handload for them. I love Southern California but the FN government is ruining the place. I see the things I love about Southern California dissappearing, one by one. And it is absolutely killing me.

LGB I know what you mean. I grew up in Northern California, Bay Area. I lived there 39 years before I moved in 96.

You folks from Kali know the drill. If you subvert the children to hate evil firearms in their formative years, your anti-gun message and laws are much easier to pass when they attain voting age.
Apple computers used that tactic to break through the IBM pc lock on the market. They donated computers to schools, and the children learned on Apple and bought Apple computers for college and home and today Apple is a viable company instead of bankrupt.
The subversion continues today in their schools and colleges. All you have to do is look around you to see the results.

I may have strayed from the core issue on this thread....or not.

AB 962 takes effect after 7/1/2010. You can still mail-order ammo for now as my friend just got a bunch in.

:p :neener: :p

around here, they had such a problem with people stealing manhole covers and other municipality owned things, catalytic converters and aluminum wheels off of brand new cars, they now require a thumb print just to turn in scrap metal at the recyclers!

Why is it that everything I hear about that state is always f'd up? You would think something good would come out of it every now and then.

You shouldn't worry about providing a fingerprint because there will be no ammo to buy in CA after 2010. The new law makes it unprofitable for vendors to comply with the added restrictions. Walmart has announced that it will cease selling ammo early next year and Cabelas has indicated that they will stop selling as well. Other sellers will follow the same path.
This is what the law was intended for...to restrict the availability of ammo.
No skin off my nose, I live in Texas which ironically has a lower crime rate than California.

Yup...One of the Kennedy girls married to a spineless actor...
Make that a spineless actor who got rich SHOOTING people on the big screen!!! The guns they need to take away belong to the Hollywood studios.

I would comment more on the people running the state but last time I said something about DF and NP, a moderator quicly and abruptly told me that I would get banned if I did it again. Considering who they are, the comments were not bad at all.

It's still going to be difficult to trace, unless they start micro-tagging powder.....oooooohhhh. Anyone here work in a powder or ammo factory? Have they started micro-tagging yet?

Just take the little blue/green/red dots and serialize them.

Now that takes care of 2% of the reloading powders. Time for the anti's to pat themselves on the back and declare a "win". hehe

Oh, didn't you hear? Al Gory is going to sit there and engrave your S/S number on each flake with an electric pen when you send in an order!! That should give him something to do......
