Finally, after a long hard winter, lousy wind, rain, I'm finally going to Capital City Rifle and Pistol Club Multi-purpose Rifle Range in a few minutes!!!

I'm about ready, but now to pick the rifles I'm going to take. It's going to be sweet, shooting my varmint rifles...Rem 700 .223s and maybe a .243. Just the perfect day to shoot!

If there are any guys here who are members and feel like shooting, come on out!!! If none can make it, I may post photos of my targets, if they're "post-worthy".

It's been many months since I last shot and I haven't recently loaded any ammo, so I'm not expecting any personal records, but it's time to head out. I'll let you folks know if I do okay out there. After all, I am in my later 70's, so don't hold your breath!

The 200 yard Rifle Range was rented-out to the Maine Forest Service, but it wasn't entered on the Club Website! DUH!

At least I saw a buddy on the Pistol Range, so went to talk with him and helped him figure out how to load and get his friend's new Ruger .22 semi-auto handgun to function. It seems a bit clunky in operation, but I didn't bother to read the manual and got it working anyway.

That’s outstanding. Glad to hear you finally got out. I’ve been itching to get some shooting done for a while but between the terrible weather and a cross country move, I haven’t had the time.
Finally got out today on my new property here in AL. My old property I was limited to how far I could shoot, now I’m living large. Got my 10/22 sighted in at 50yds so I can participate in LoonWulfs .22 rifle challenge (Still Gotta get the official targets printed out, but hey im sighted in) then I backed off to 100yrds and really had some fun ringing steel. My 10/22 is more accurate than it should be, what a gem.

Where in Maine are you? My sister lives in Wells.
Vassalboro ...Population about 4,600, but land-wise, it's pretty big, filling several miles between Winslow and Augusta...Kennebec River on the West and considerable shoreline of China lake to the East.

I love the “Down East” land and her folks! I was born and raised in NH myself. Miss 4 seasons and River smallmouth bass fishing!

I had 40 acres in NW Alabama that I sold 3 years ago when I moved out West. I sure miss that place.

Glad you got out, even a bad day at the range is better than a good day at work, unfortunately I had a bad day at work. Just can't understand why people want to fix candidates for the bone yard.

Not the best shooting I've done, but the reloads weren't fresh and were an experiment. Still, it was fun to get out to the big range for the first time this summer. I went out during the winter, but had to shovel a path to a hundred yard target location. That's "Cabin Fever" for you!!! Today was much more recreation and no perspiration. I went out a couple of days ago, but the range was rented-out to the Maine Forest Service. That was one of the agencies within the Department of Conservation where I worked in the Bureau of Parks and Recreation. When I managed a program in Parks (until2011), Forestry folks didn't carry guns, but tried on several occasions to do so.

The .17 cal. was fun to shoot today, but I had a mixed-bag of rounds, none of which were as good-shooting as others I've shot in that rifle last year. They 'hovered' around 3/4" at 100 and one made a 1/2" group. They were all "minute of squirrel" at that range, but I shoot much closer when potting reds.
