Not sure what you mean by blocky, but here are a couple pics that will hopefully show you how it's shaped. It's my first 1911, so I don't have anything to compare it to.

I'm still very pleased with it...have 50 more rounds down it since I last posted & still no issues. I plan to install some Novak sights once I get some extra money since the GI sights are hard to acquire quickly for me.

    grip, sights

Blocky in that the front part of the grip is more square-ish and less curved than some other 1911s. I can't tell by the pics. Gun Tests mag claimed the Regent (same manufacturer) would have received an 'A' rating instead of a 'B' rating if the front part of the grip was more rounded.

I think there is paint a person can buy for the front sight that will make it easier to "acquire". There are tritium night sites for the front, but I'm not sure if they are thin enough to work with the stock rear sight.

    Good luck!

I think Turkish and Phillipino 1911's are a great value and of good quality.

That's weird, last night Bud's had them for $379 delivered. Woke up this morning & they were back up to $399 again... Still a good value for what I have read so far.
