I couldn’t resist either!
I got the 1911A1 Service. Flat mainspring housing, but short trigger. I replaced the MSH with a Pachmayer rubber insert Arch MSH.
Only complaint is that it shot about 8” high at 25yds. I filed the rear sight (and drifted it to the right about 0.005”) and deepened the rear notch with a 3-side safe square needle file. I then touch up blued the rear sight. It hits about 1.5-2” high, dead center now.
Trigger has just a tad of take up, and a small but perceptible creep . Probably a 4.5-5lb pull.
VERY shootable! 250rds of 230gr PC cast RN and TC as well as 200rds of 200gr SWC. A couple of 200 SWC has needed a little “help” chambering. Usually just a slap on the bottom of the mag.

I bought a replica WWII flap holster so it doesn’t get dumped on the ground while pig hunting ALA Rudyard Kipling in “RIKI TIKI TAVI”. My 7th grade English teacher assigned me that for a book report. I resented it until I started reading it. Then couldn’t put it down!
I came to really like that teacher!

Probably not a bad deal given the low price, but just seeing these idiots naming a commander sized pistol the "tanker" and knowing as a former tanker who was issued a 1911A1 that we ALL got full size pistols...

Makes my skin crawl.

I never saw anything other than a standard 1911 or 1911A1 while I was in the Army. One of the Army Reserve units I worked with still had a couple of original 1911's in their arms room.

Was going to post something like this. I was a tank commander, and I was not issued a commander sized pistol, just an M1911A1 and then an M9.

Maybe they were referring to Turkish tank commanders? :scrutiny: I have no idea what Turkish tank commanders are issued though.

Give you a guess, they Corporate "they") were looking for a name unencumbered by trademark/tradename restrictions, and were getting nowhere And somebody remembered the "tanker" (reduced length) Garands. Then, after a clearance check, no one had applied the name to handguns, and so "winner, winner, chicken dinner."

From very fuzzy memory Turk TC carry a version of the GP35 in 9mm.

A rose by any other name, still has thorns.

I picked up a Tisas “blem” GI for $320 delivered. I guess the “blemish” is a slight discoloration between the slide and frame but I don’t notice it much. I upgraded the trigger, hammer, grip safety, sights, and thumb safety (and lost the cheap plastic grips). I need to do some more polishing on the fire control group to get the trigger pull down, but I’m very happy with the gun.
