I see what the OP had in mind, and am very intrigued. Any legal experts care to weigh in on how this has been historically used or could be used in the future for us laymen? TIA
 
I'm going to cut this off. The OP's question is just too open ended and broad. Yes 18 USC 242 is a real law, and yes, there have been prosecutions under it. But what's the point of bringing it up in the Legal Forum of THR? The OP is welcome to start a new thread and raise the question in a more specific, focused way.

And if we are going to discuss this, and its companion statute, 18 USC 241, addressing conspiracies, it will need to be evidence based and with reference to some actual legal authority. The statute dates back to 1948, so it's likely that there's a large body of case law dealing with how it applies.
