TMS scope mount for my first AR15?

I'm putting together my first AR15 (a varmint rig), and I'd like to find a quality scope mount for $50 or less. Risers absolutely do not appeal to me (I just find them dorky-looking - why add a rail to an already functioning rail?), so I'm on the market for either extra high scope rings or a purpose-built one-piece mount.

This TMS one-piece scope mount looks pretty appealing. The Amazon reviews for it are very positive, and though it's out of stock there, I can get one off of eBay for $28, shipped. At that price, I feel that it should be worth the risk. My question is: does anyone have experience with these mounts? I'm planning on mounting a Bushnell Elite Tactical 3200 5-15x40 scope on it, and it seems that the eye-to-lens clearance would be fine even with simple extra-high scope rings (I tried the scope out with an old M4-style airsoft gun). I'm just trying to find a fairly solid, reliable scope mount to get started with it. I won't be jumping out of airplanes or running it over with a truck, so an off brand like TMS doesn't bother me as long as it works.

    Thanks, everyone.

P.S. - here's another option. I like that it seems to mount to the rail more solidly, but I'm pretty sure I don't need that much forward offset.

I have had one on an AR for about a year without a problem. When I upgraded to a burris pepr I moved it to a dedicated. 22 upper. It resides there today.

I too have one. Just put it on two weeks ago. Haven't zeroed yet but the unit is robust and better built than I expected for $28

Try Burris Extreme tactical rings. Rock solid. You can get them in high 3/4" or Extra high 1". I have used these on a number of rifles and would not hesitate to use them again, works great on an AR with no need for a riser platform.

I also have the Burris ETR's on my Savage rifle and woudn't hesitate to use them for an AR application.

The issue in my case was for my my scope to be where I needed it I couldn't use standard rings (I don't have rails on the handguard) so the offset AR mount worked best for my application.

Good to hear. I think I'll buy one. $28 for a solid starter scope mount sounds good to me!

Dont have any experience with the brand you mentioned but be sure you have enough clearance to work the charging handle under what ever scope you choose.

I tried to go less expensive with the Burris Extreme Tactical rings, but I could not get proper head position with the scope positioned as far forward as possible. I've since swapped them out for the Burris PEPR and am very satisfied with the setup. It's made in China, but appears to be very solid and well made. Best price I could find was at Mid South.

Plateshooter. The unit Primary arms sells is the same as the TMS...identical.

mshootnit. That unit is $149 if he had that kind of doe he wouldn't be asking about the TMS.
