here's some of mine, and black92's toys....
the cut on my forehead, that's why this pic is named bad angle....
take notes kids...
I had a great time. it was well worth the drive down from cincy/ i left at 7:00 this morning and just walked in the door at 12:30.
It was great to meet you all. i will have to join you all again.
big thanks to the following for letting me play with your toys....
i'll be posting some more details on the campout/ shootout soon....
1911 and a P99 (?) on cross-draw? That little guy is tactical!
I am back. I will post later today, after 5pm at work. Now, I will crash. I made it all this way, now hopefully I wont fall off the stairs up to bed...
I had a great time as usual. It was nice to see some old faces as well as a few new ones. I'm already looking forward to the next one.
next time i come down can we eat somewhere other than the "COCA" mexican resteraunt? i have a feeling it would be the reason i woke up at
3:30 this morning to bow before the thrown, and why i am not at work right now.
Or maybe it's Lyme Disease? I found two ticks on me this morning. So check yourselves for those little buggers.
Much fun was had by all. Thanks to the Slingers for letting me play with their space gun (the HK carbine) and letting me test their DPMS .22lr upper on my AR. I Must Have One. (No honey, I didn't buy another gun, this is an accessory.)
MoparMike I blame you and your Mauser and my own general wussiness for the bruise on my shoulder this morning. Thanks for letting me play with it. As with the .22 upper I Must Have One. You did a beautiful job with the stock on that rifle, BTW.
Intune's son Addison had a lot of fun playing with my 22/45. I suspect something like that to go with his Marlin 60 will be his next birthday request. You're welcome Intune.
Yesterdaysyouth, after looking at the pictures I realize we met but never introduced ourselves. I was the fat guy with the beard in the blue shirt you let shoot your Saiga. Thank you kindly.
That's actually me in those pics. Glad you liked the Saiga. Remember they can be had for less than 200 bucks
Ah, thank you Black92LX. Fun little rifle.
So, Mexican for lunch today?
bring me COCA, mandolion boy!!!
i didn't have any problems with the mexican, i think it bound me up if anything.....
im sure you're crying about that part....
the thing you have to understand is i hate puking more than anything in the world! I honestly have a phobia of it and am not sure why. i would rather put in a 12-14 hour day than puke once and not have to go to work.
Glad you enjoyed the rifle BryanP.
Things I learned from this trip:
500mi is the farthest I should go before refueling.
Cruise Control is an absolute necessity.
Gas in NW AR is farking expensive compared to the rest of the state and even Central TN.
All EBR's have a grindy-gritty-sproingy feeling when they cycle. Its normal.
A Garand is God's Own Rifle. I must have one.
A 1911 fits my hand better than my Witness, and doesn't kill me to shoot.
Oddly enough, a G29 has less percieved recoil than my Witness.
My Witness's mag springs could be the source of my FTF problems.
I MUST do something about my flinch. Hitting propane tanks at 50yds isnt good enough.
I got an exceedingly good shotgun for $160. I am glad that so many of you enjoyed it.
6rds of .41mag is enough. I forgot whose it was though. Thanks for letting me try it!
An M38 has slightly less recoil than a Czech 24/47. YMMV though.
There is only 1 way for a bayonet to go in its scabbard.
There are A LOT of police in TN. I saw more in one day than I see in a week here in Fayettenam.
TN mosquitoes seem to like me.
That a small 9mm isnt for me, its really snappy. I might adapt though.
That I probably should have shot the 9mm more, and gotten used to it.
Road lag SUCKS.
Thanks all there! I had a great time!
I am so sorry it took me so long to respond. A very long day it was yesterday, and I am very pleased with the turn out. I loved meeting new people, and I over heard Sheslinger state that we needed to do a get together without going to the range. I thought that was a great idea and I thought that maybe, before summer ends, that we can all do a cookout. No shooting, just getting to know eachother as individuals. Great idea Sheslinger! I am open for suggestions.
I took my daughter out for the first time to shoot. It was interesting seeing her with first an air rifle, then an air soft pistal, Amish Bill let her shoot the 9mm, which, the poor thing nearly jumped out of her skin. I let her shoot my .22 rifle, and she did not want to put it down. So, I thought I accomplished something yesterday.
Pictures looked great, can't wait to see more of them.
Mopar Mike, glad to have you over, hope you had a good time. AB, sorry about not getting the shots of my eyes, however, as you know, there will be a next time. Oh, and OEF Vet, I AM A LADY
Thank you all for coming, I had a great time. Looking forward to the next time!
*chuckle* "LADY" i get it now....
Would the other people who had cameras please post the pictures!
Oleg, it looks like Steelharp took quite a few pics and he's posted them in a separate thread -
Been pullin' 12 & 14 hr days the last few months & feel kinda outta touch. This shoot was a right on time. A great time was had by all. My kid's got home and were just bouncing off the walls with Mom because of the sodas... Not the ones they ingested, the ones they BLASTED! Reactive targets make such a difference with people, both young & old. I'll bring more 6.5, .22 & .45 next time. Just when you think you have enough... Get more. Somebody will bring an HK with a grease gun mag that your kids will fall in love with. My thanks to all for their hospitality towards my kids in addition to the bond that we all shared that day. I look forward to our next meet (my house? Plenty of room.) and will try to keep from looking at Frank's newly married legs! They're in good hands. Congrats, Brother! Be safe out there.
Let me see what I can find....
