Just wanted to wish you, and all your loved ones, a proud and joyous 4th of July!

While THR Forumers are amongst the last of all Americans to need reminding of the great historical and philosophical significance of this day, to your national, and to world history, be assured that it has real significance to ALL lovers of freedom everywhere I have ever been.

It is more than just the birthdate of a "Great Nation".

(However one want's to define that term)!

It marks the birth of one of the worlds major concepts of Government, and a whole new concept of human dignity.

    "Party Hearty" mates!

Your forebearers left you a Republic worthy of living for.

    Even of dying for.

Long may you and your families prosper!

And while I am no "God Botherer", I pray that your children and grandchildren, will inheret the Rights that their Founding Fathers won for them.

    AND.

For which so many of their own relatives died trying to preserve for them.

    Make Merry!

And keep the "Spirit of 1776" still flying!

    Cheers!

    Warrigal:D

    Thank you.

We keep getting told how all foreigners resent us.

Glad to know it's not so.

Today I will spend enjoying my friends and family.

Today is also my wife's 28th Birthday.

Also at the old Bitburg Germany Air Base, they are having a large scale "BASH" or Big Annual Summer Happening. This is located within easy walking distance from my front door.

I'll have a few "Fine German beers" for all you Americans back in the states!

    Good luck and be safe

    Thanks Warrigal

It's good to know that others recognize the 4th as more than a drunken party...(althought I intend to do some drunken partying too!:D

    Happy Independance Day to all!

    I wish y'all a happy Independence Day! :)

The Fourth of July should not just be a day of rememberance to commemorate and celebrate your glorious victory over the tyranny of John Bull, but rather an occasion to gather new strength and determination to fight your enemies of freedom, alien or domestic, with increased vigor.

DemocRATS, leftists, socialists and statists are more dangerous than all muslim fanatics, terrorists and mad dictators like Kim Jong Il together!!!

    Very special day...

I just wonder how many times the founding fathers have spun in their graves by now though... :uhoh:

Still, this is the day to remember the origination of this country and all that it is supposed to stand for... ;)

The thing is, it is still the best darn place in the world to live!!!

Here is to LIBERTY!!! (at least some anyway... :scrutiny: )

Ya'll have a good time today, I know I will.

Cheers to Warrigal for starting the thread.... No worries, mate! :D

    Concept of government available cheap

    >It marks the birth of one of the world's major concepts of Government,

Well, actually most of it was copied from the Swiss Confederation. And we seem to be finished with the concept of a free society now, so if anyone else wants to use it, you're welcome to it. But thanks; Americans need cheering up as we go about our daily labors to pay the taxes that enthrone the world's kleptocrats.

Many thanks Warrigal! We'll be on the Sunshine Coast next February (used to live in Mooloolaba when the tallest building was a TWO story one) - if you're around, I'd love to buy you a VB or a XXXX, unless you drink that nasty ol' Toohey's!

Pardon my ignorance, but what would be an equivalent holiday in Australia?

    A hearty Thanks, Warrigal!

It's a surprise to have well-wishes about a strictly American holiday from someone outside the our borders. It's nice to find someone from "Forn' Parts" who can also appreciate what it means to us.

    :) :D :)

    Thank you so much

This holiday means a lot to us.

Australia and the US have a history of very close cooperation and mutual love of liberty. Thank you for giving Gen. MacArthur a place to stay and plan his return to the Phillipines, and for your valiant coastwatchers.

    Goodonya, Warrigal!

The flags are flying, and we have relatives in from about as far away from Anchorage as you can get in the U.S.A. (southern Florida).

    Best regards,

    David

Thank you, Warrigal. And Krautgunner, your thoughts are very appropriate. Thank you for reminding us how the fight for freedom goes on.

Being an American is a state of mind, not a geographical location.

    Thanks one and all.

Your kind words heal the wounds after the bitter tounge lashing I took at the hands of an embittered female Australian exchange student who apparently despises America, Americans and everything about us. Thank you.
