Today I enjoyed the outdoors. I chose to carry......

If you're in St. Augustine, drive less an hour to the old Navy base in Green Cove Springs. I believe they still do tours there. My dad spent a little bit of time there after rotating back to the states during the war (Korea) and was actually on liberty in St. Augustine when it experienced a "major" snowfall (yeah, I heard that story more than once growing up but it was only 2")..

Not all from this weekend (there's still snow up there, but there was cloud cover in the morning), but my daughter's visiting from New York, so went to one of our favorite places, Olympic National Park. These are from the lower elevations and the Hoh Rainforest and Lake Crescent.

Some may remember that a hiker was killed by a mountain goat up here a few years back. Hence why I carry a man gun up here (SIG P-227 Carry) with two spare mags.

I had time for a quick hike in Kettle Moraine State Park, about 10 minutes from my house. I unfortunately got a late start and didn't have that much time. I was able to catch the sunset over the farm fields. I had my P365XL loaded with HST 124 grain +P along with a Buck knife.

Yesterday, after recently moving back to SD, i went out and tried my luck fishing, both out of a kayak and on shore but no luck. As it's a bit close to a very small town and secluded with dense trees and undergrowth, I wanted something to have for emergencies. I am trying to see if things are OK here or if there are increasing chances of bad people showing up.

I carried my little Ruger SR22 with 3 mags of CCI Minimag hp the whole day, it's not much, but it's there also incase any rattlers show up as well. It's also small enough to pocket carry. Also, I didn't want to risk possibly losing my bigger pistol in the lake.

I took a little wander up an oppressively hot gulch, to some quiet National Forest.

I hooked around to the left most point (above), but on my way I found a nice flat space where brass would be easily collected.

And there I broke the silence, by shooting a .357 Sig at that yellow cube, which is 5x5x5". And that should give you an idea how large some of those pieces of quartz are.

I continued on, to walk some of the higher ground and enjoy some scenic overlooks from the rock outcropping.

The guns were my usual G20 on the left hip, and a P224 on the right.

Probably a bit too hot to be out exerting myself with 1300' elevation gain to be honest. But the breeze across the peaks made it bearable. The journey up and down the gulch however, was rough.

Enjoying Saint Augustine FL this week. I have posted pictures of Castillo de San Marcos in the past. Hope I don't bore you.
Love the cannons...

I had a home in St. Augustine for many years. A wonderful small city. I used to visit Castillo de San Marcos often, and the surrounding hotel/shopping district. Looks like you really enjoyed it. I certainly enjoyed your photos. They brought back many pleasant memories. Thanks.

This is a wonderful thread. Great pics. Thanks to the OP and all the posters.

I used to vacation in the Smokies every year, and would typically stay at a secluded cabin where the owner had 200 acres of hiking trails, some topping out on a mountain that overlooked the valley beyond. I carried my Beretta 94f 380 for the daily hiking expeditions. Not a soul for miles around. And luckily no Mountain Lions nor Black Bears;

Lovely country in the Smokies. Especially where Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee meet. Some beautiful hiking and viewing can be found;

Went for a walk near home on a multi use trail (snowshoe, mountain biking, walking).
No flowers, but a bunch of mushrooms.

My hiking companions were my 637 loaded with Norma 158 jhp 38 special. And my Bucklite 422.
After @Night Rider posted the picture of the 110 slim select and the video it got me thinking about my little buck knife and what model it is.

I carry my 422 more often than any other knife I own.

my contribution to the excellent thread is light on outdoors scenery but heavy on outdoors carry pieces. day hikes on public trails in well-used state parks in karen-heavy n.e. so my perfectly lawful ccw is discreet. ruger lcr 22lr, naa bugout 22lr, bond arms 9mm, taurus pt25, naa guardian 32acp. i’m most worried about small, rabid/feral 4-legged mammals, but 2-legged ones are sadly a nagging concern too.
