Today I enjoyed the outdoors. I chose to carry......

When you have it on your bike does the weight or size matter?
I prefer a my little guy in a pocket, but does a larger or heavier gun bother the balance in pedaling?
No, not at all. It’s low on the frame so it doesn’t impact my balance. Normally I just carry IWB on my bike, but on a longer ride I bring a Camelback. That throws my balance more than anything.

Had a busy day so I only got out for about an hour and ten minute walk in the woods. But I’ll take it. The weather turned on me too, but that’s ok. It was hot.

Today I carried my 686+ loaded with Speer 158 gr Gold Dots.

It’s a bit small for the woods, but today felt like my ZT0900 was THE knife to carry. Not sure why. I also decided to try out my oak shillelagh for the first time.

Thought I’d share my holster also splayed out on a chunk of quarts the size of a lazy boy.

It’s made by Diamond D Cudtom Leather. Best field holster ever. It keeps the gun low and out of the way. No good for driving, but that’s not why I bought it. I like it so much I bought another for my Sig P220.

The best part about the Keltec P32 is that I can have it anywhere, always, and anytime. I have spent the day absolutely having an amazing time. All while alerting none to the presence of a firearm and ruining their fun.:)

We have fished, and walked and biked and swam and bought ice cream and caught a small mouth bass and saw turtles and went on a paddle boat ride and got sprayed by the fountain and searched for a lost boy(my wandering nephew) and directed an Ambulance to our neighboring plot as I held some ice on his neck in fear of a heart attack and we made burgers and fed the fish and looked at a phone for all the different kinds they have here and watched campfire and roasted marshmallows.

Just yesterday.

Today. I drank bourbon and opined about pistol braces. Whew. ;)

The EMTs down here are wonderful by the way.

Please excuse my lack firearms pictures. Not exactly couth to get a nice gun pic here at this glorious afternoon.

May this suffice. I have said Keltec in my right hand pocket. Where it has been since Tuesday.

Mine are the big ones...:D

(Whoa, time for a shower. Does swimming count?)

Well I had another weird day yesterday. So I had to rush. Got out on my bike but no gun. Just a big knife. So no pictures this time.

It was a little bit cooler yesterday evening so I sat and watched the feeder hoping the pigs would come in but they did not this time.
I had my .300 BO AR15 pistol with a light and red dot.
Sitting in a comfortable chair and watching nature was still a nice evening.
I will get the pigs sooner or later! tgx6thil.jpg

Get some of those destructive little pork chops!

I find a good walking stick to be an encumbrance. But I find I am really good at making them, perfecting whole saplings to just a beach. I’ll see if I can get a picture together of EDCS (Every Day Carry Sticks) with what I usually carry around the woods...
(Hint: not a Keltec.:D)

I found mine quite handy when dealing with my rattle snake two weeks ago. Also on rough terrain it’s nice having an extra point of contact with the ground.

One of my shillelaghs saved me from falling on ice four times last winter.

But they aren’t for everyone. If I’m hiking with my friend’s dog on leash, no way.

Went out yesterday since the weather looked like it would cooperate. I decided to make it a bit of a combo day. Set up two steel targets, one at 25 yards and one at 3o, and just blasted away.

I realized I hadn’t shot any 10mm for awhile so I broke out my SAO P220 Elite. I really love this gun. It’s such a nice shooter and it doesn’t beat you up.

If you look closely you can see my little targets out there. I really need to get some fresh paint on them.

I was shooting some home rolled 180 grain ammo. I think they were Extreme brand plated bullets over 13.2 grains of AA#9. They cook along out of that barrel at about 1250 FPS. Not nuclear loads, but certainly enough that you know you aren’t shooting a 40 S&W.

After I’d put 150 rounds through that gun I broke out my CZ A01-LD. This one was loaded with 124 gr truncated cone bullets from RMR over 7.2 gr if AA#7. That load is very accurate from all my 9mm guns.

Then the thunder started. I looked behind me and saw heavy rain coming so I quickly cleaned up my guns, ammo, and targets, and managed to recover a lot of brass before the rain got really heavy. So I waited it out and decided to go for a wander afterwards.

Came across a few mule deer and saw a red headed wood pecker. The wild roses are blooming along with lupines. Note the small spider on the rose. The antler I left out there. It was chewed up and I have an office full of deer and elk antlers.

Of course once I was about 2.5 miles from my truck another rain cloud wandered my way. Had to shelter under a tree nearby and just use it to block the rain. Not the most safe thing to do but it became a driving rain.

I just gave my 10mm a quick wipe down and carried that for my walk.

This area is right on the edge of a massive wildfire that took place 20 years ago. All in all it was a good day.

The buzzards were hopeful I’d drop over.

Sounds like a perfect day  other than the rain
Nothing better than time outdoors :D

Went out to the cow pasture and fired a bunch of Zero handloads from the Smith & Wesson PC1911. I bought the cute one with the holes in the slide. I got a Galco Miami Classic II holster for it. Florida has backward open-carry laws, but I was on my own property, so I threw the holster on over a T-shirt and took off.

Then I found out I should have used a case gage on the .45 rounds. Oh, well.

I got out yesterday for a pretty long hike. Carried my ZT0462 and my Sig P938.

Right on time, the storm cloud rolled in when I was as far from my truck as I would be. But I got lucky this time. I knew there was rock up ahead so finding shelter was possible. And I did. I managed to find a nice overhang to get out of the downpour. I was stuck for maybe 20 minutes. Good time to snap a photo.
