I've seen the A4 popping up here and there lately. I was wondering what the valve of one is in today's market. I've seen asking prices as high as $6000, but that seemed way out of line to me.
What has the thread seen lately? (Mine has an M84 scope)

From what I've seen the replicas by Gibbs and James River Armory seem to have brought the selling prices down. People are less willing to pay the big bucks when they can get a nice replica for 1k. My local gun shop has a real one with a scant stock and M82 scope with a $4000 price tag. We'll see how long it lasts.

Beware!

There are more fake ones out there then there were real ones ever made.

BTW: Do you want to buy my Jessie James revolver, or my Wells Fargo coach gun??

I have a real 03A4 that was rebarreled and restocked postwar by a master gunsmith.Ornately carved stock, glass bedded, jewelled bolt, engraved floor plate, really beautiful rifle.I paid 2,000 bucks for it 20 years ago and don't regret it a bit.I guess if I found an original bolt, barrel, and stock,I could put it back in military shape for a few hundred, but damn it's a purty rifle.

Missed one about 10 years ago. Guy walked in a local shop with a 50's arsenal reconditioned piece, wooden box, both scopes, test target, arsenal paper work, the complete package. He wanted to trade it for mid range over/under shotgun that was on the shelf, about a $800.00 item. Dealer wouldn't do it!:what: A buddy of mine was there, looked at the package. Now my buddy lived about 1/2 mile away, he told the guy he'd run home and get the $$ for the shotgun and trade him even. Guy didn't want to wait, bye-bye 03A4:banghead:Coogs.

There was a new-in-the-wrap original A4 bolt on ebay a couple of days ago with the bidding at $300. If I had an A4 lacking a bolt, I would certainly bid on it.

An A3 converted to an A4 just isn't convincing. The receiver ring marking gives it away immediately (the originals were marked "A3" but it was offset so as to be visible with the scope mount in place).
