Yes he is, I would find a different safety instructor. Hopefully he was NOT teaching your wife about gun safety.

A metal detector can be adjusted for sensitivity, the one we have in our secure detention facility will pick up a pin, or a paper clip.

Metal Detector

This is my for real, actual experience. Just the other day, in a mental brain fart, walked into the City Library carrying a Glock 23 concealed. I was through the metal detector when I realized what I had done. I made a u-turn and went back through it and left immediately. No alarm or buzzer went off. I stashed the pistol in the car and went back in. Now I wonder if the metal detector is real, or just for show. A Glock should have set it off I'd think. It did not. The violence in that area is for real though. Just recently they had a shooting just outside the Library and the fellow shot stumbled into the Library seeking help. Last I heard he was in critical condition in the hospital.
