I took a new shooter with me to the range today. I brought along a Ruger Mk III and a S&W model 17 and two bricks of federal bulk pack. He was a bit nervous at first, but hit his stride and we went through 1100 rounds. The rimfire range has target hangers at 7, 15, and 20 yds. Also at 20yds there are a whole bunch steel poppers to shoot. It was a good 3 hours of fun.

When we were cleaning up, I asked him what he thought. He told me that today was the most fun you could have with your pants on and asked when we could go again. I always enjoy getting new people to the range.

Congrats on spreading the "shooting bug" ,in the proper way!;)

Too many so called shooting sports enthusiasts run off potential shooters by starting them out with handguns that are intimidating.

By using the .22 rimfire, and the fun type targets you have most likley made a great impression on your student. This lesson will be engrained in his memory and will be passed on to future generations of shooters!

I brought two new shooters to the range today myself. It was fun, but I got to tell you that watching more than one person at a time can get a bit tiring.

GREAT and thanks for doing that!

Been there - done that.

I am glad that everyone had a safe/fun time.

Very nice to hear! I remember those who took me to the range my first few times and had to bear with me as I learned and went through the paces. From what I remember, I was not an easy study and needed much work. I've since come into my own and now help new shooters as much as I can or is requested.

This is what I love to hear and read about - those who teach others about our sport and get them involved. So thank you Dann, BJ, and Bill, wherever you are now!
