Temp got up to about 50* Saturday. had so go outside and enjoy it - so I Got out the casting gear and melted down about 200# of range scrap. not a bad way to spend an afternoon. just enough breeze to keep the smoke away, but not so much as to mess with the pot.

Awesome, I did the almost the same thing Saturday afternoon. I melted 30# of wheel weights and about 50# of pipe welds. Always a great day when I'm casting.
 
I have "run up to" ...but never jumped in...the bullet casting part of our shooting hobby. I don't know why. Two years ago got closest ever. I talked to a friend THE DAY AFTER he got rid of 6000 lbs ( yes six thousand pounds) of pure lead! MISSED IT ! Told my wife that would have pushed me into casting. ( it made me sick) well. Probably never come that close again. Too bad. I think I'd like it. Even with buying the alloy metals...I'd made the jump!
