The weather was lousy, wanting to rain or snow. Just that dampness and cold that makes me want to just go back to bed. Instead I decided to take the 25 auto and the .380 for a little trigger times. The The Titan .25 auto was given to me by my mother in law after my FIL passed away some years ago.
Then a recent purchase, a RIA .380 auto.
First, the .380. I bought it having no real purpose except that it is a cool little 1911. It doesn't disappoint. I have probably shot a box of ammo thru it previously with no hiccups. On this trip I shot about 70 rounds. On 2 occasions the slide didn't go fully into battery on the next round. With just a little nudge it was back to work. Other than that function was near perfect. Recoil was pretty tame. However the recoil can feel a little sharp, possibly because of the VZ grips. Accuracy was not a problem out to about 15 yards. If I get too much farther distant then the accuracy problem is more a "me" problem than the gun's capability. I am also practicing more left hand/ left eye shooting out to about 3 to 10 yards. I think that is a good skill to become proficient at.
Now for the 25 auto. I don't have any idea how old it is but I would guess 50 to 60 years. The ammo
is at least that old. The price is $5.25 I believe. The rounds are a mix of Federal and Winchester
I shot about 20 rounds. All fired and the gun functioned perfectly. One thing I noticed immediately was the smell of the burnt powder. It didn't smell like any thing I have ever shot before. At 10 yards I could consistently hit paper in my first 7 rounds.
At 7 yards the group tightened up with another magazine full.
All in all, a good time on a gloomy day.
Earlier, I said that I had no real purpose when I bought my Baby Rock. I don't plan to CC it. I'm squared away in that department. Not my idea of a woods carry gun, at least in my woods. But I think now my purpose for having it is the fun factor shooting these little guns. And that's good enough for me.
Merry Christmas all.
