Of these, the Hi power, Glock 17, Sig 226, also CZ75, and possibly the FN 509, but I don't know much about that one, only that FN makes good guns.
Yes, all steel 9mm guns do feel good. We have a pretty good list we can put together soon for a poll. I will make some suggestions, but only about the guns I have experience with. That won't add up to 10 from me.
The Glock 17 is supposed to be one of the very best 9mm guns. I can't say anything about the 19, don't know anything about it.
There are plenty of reliable guns, but only so many are near perfect in more than one way. I'm sure your HK suits your needs, but how many others have to owned or used to compare against? People that only have so many guns to compare, have a limited opinion. There happens to be at least 10 #1 9mm guns out there, maybe more. So the list can be large, and in no special order if we just go by what guns are commonly mentioned. The Browning Hi power, while be a great gun, trying to suggest someone buy one, well, that will be a long process since you can't get one very easily. The list was to help perspective buyers know what to look for when buying a 9mm handgun.
This is one guys list, and it is pretty accurate, but I would remove one or two of them. 1. The Glock 19 The Glock 17 might also be in this slot. 2. The Browning Hi Power Great gun, but try to get one. 3. The CZ 75B The CZ75 comes in a lot of configurations, but they are all mostly good, so we would call this the CZ75 4. The S&W Shield I have one of these, and I don't like it for a few reasons, even though a lot of people own them, maybe because their cheap. 5. Springfield XD(M) Competition Series I don't know about the competition series, but I got rid of my regular Springfield XD 6. Sig P226 I love the P226, it starts out as a great gun, and only gets better with the upgraded they put into the Legion models. 7. The Walther P99 AS I see this gun on a lot of lists, I have know experience with it, so no comment. 8. The Beretta 92FS I have this one in Inox, and it is great. 9. Heckler and Koch VP9 I see this one on a few lists, so it might belong on the list 10. Ruger SR9 This one is on a lot of lists, Ruger makes some really nice guns,
lol the top one or the top ten 9mm.....is the one or are the ones you have plenty of ammo for after panic buying happens and then you wish you had a .40 or two or a SIG .357 when you look down on the empty shelves and see there is still some .40 to be had.
#10 Glock 34 (yes, Glock made the bottom of the list. I know you all are surprised it is even on my list...) #9 Walther Q5 Match (steel frame) #8 Sig P320 X5 Legion #7 Tanfoglio Witness Match Extreme #6 CZ Accushadow2 #5 Some sort of 2011. I understand Atlas makes decent ones. #4 Tanfoglio Witness Limited Custom Extreme #3 CZ Tactical Sport Orange #2 Tanfoglio Witness Gold Custom Extreme #1 CZ Chechmate You might be surprised that I am biased toward the CZ inside slide thingy. Maybe I'm really just a fan of the Sig 210. Oh well, it didn't make my list! So... this exercise is pretty much useless, because I haven't shot a single one of these guns (yet) so I don't know for sure. Although i did take the time to fill out the list! I have dry fired one of them. However, this is my top ten list of race guns. Sort of. I would fill up the thing with the various Tanfoglios and CZ and maybe a 2011 or something, but I thought that would be pretty boring, so I only filled up slightly more than half of my list with that. Also, there is more money on this list than I hope to ever spend on race guns! Well... sort of.
Sig-Lover said: ↑ Can we get a thread going on something that most can agree on, the Top 10 9mm handguns. Most will never agree on any list. I simply listed my personal favorites. I'm not gonna criticize anyone else's list, 'cause we all have different tastes. But the cream does rise to the top ...
I'd have to start with where it started--the Luger. The SIG P210 would have to make the list. The BHP too as well as the CZ75. The Beretta 92 and Glock 19 can't be left off. I think the SIG P220 would have to be on the list and the P320 too, given its recent successes. I guess the Walther P38 should make the list as the first successful DA 9mm pistol. Maybe the S&W 39 should be in there somewhere too.
This is so subjective. I truly can't decide on which is best, but here is a list of 9mm handguns I really like. Sig P226 Elite Regent BR9SS - Turkish clone of a BHP Ruger SR9 - I've shot it so much I am totally used to it. Canik TP9v2 - Turkish clone of a Walther P99 9mm 1911 H&K VP9 Canik S120 - Clone of a CZ75 There are others, but I just can't choose.
HKP7 Glock 17/19 Beretta 92 BHP 1911 in 38 Super CZ-75 Sig 229 Sig 210 Steyr M9 Steyr GB Honorable Mention to the pesky Luger since it was the original.
I own and have owned some nice 9mm pistols. I just now remembered that one of my very favorites is my Blackhawk "convertible" with its 9mm cylinder installed.
This list was about guns people can buy without searching the globe for one. It's nice to know there are rare 9mm guns out there
Please try to keep your list of 9mm guns that perspective buyers can buy in a gun store, or through Gun Genie, meaning guns that are currently made and readily available. What good is a list of guns that are very hard to get, or can't be got at all, unless you hit a streak of luck?
So far, in no particular order we have these: Sig, many different models, but I would say the Sig P226 is a great 9mm Pistol, and they have many other great 9mm pistols. CZ-75, many variations of this one too, but CZ does make some nice pistols, and we will call them CZ-75 Beretta 92 FS , many are in love with the M9, but the 92 FS is the improved version of the M9, with some changes. Glock has to be mentioned, they have a few 9mm guns mentioned, and none of them are bad. H&K VP9 has been mentioned here, and many other places, so I will have to take that as a winner. Ruger SR9 made a few lists, if anyone one has one who can give some feedback on it, that will help keep it on the list. The list is of guns perspective buyers can find in a gun store, or at the Gun genie, not guns that will be almost impossible to find.
Same as everyone I get caught up in what works well for me. Or personally, in 9mm, a Gen 1 S&W M59 or a BHP. A 9mm which has recently caught my interest is the Wilson/Berretta Combat 92G. https://www.wilsoncombat.com/berettawilson-92g-brigadier-tactical/ OTOH, it is a very pricey pistol...
This is going to wind up being just a Top-10 of My Favorite 9mm's... without any specific guidelines. Anyway... 1) Browning HiPower (There's a reason it's #1 on my list) 2) Kahr CW9 (There's a reason it's #2 on my list) 3) HK P7 (Fashion and design) 4) Glop P19 (I don't own one, but there is no argument it's a success...) 5) CZ75 (I don't own one, but I wish I did...) 6) ...well... we are back to the Browning HiPower... etc, etc... Now, you could axe which 9mm I don't have any use for... 1) Beretta M9/92F/FS, and any variation therof 2) M&P Shield, (nope...) 3) XD/XDs, etc (nope...) 4) SIG. (Sorry, I understand this is blasphemy, but I have no use for a SIG.) 5) Any DA/SA automatic (minus the CZ) 6) Any revolver chambered for 9mm (I just don't get it.)
With that criteria I find it very hard to come up with 5 let alone 10. Let me quote my list again and you will see why. So there is 3 still in production and one that is out of production but common as mud. I don’t give the time of day to new guns so even the ones still in production I would buy used when and if I found them. So far I have gotten 9 of them. No original 210 yet. These are all attainable by patient looking. The 210 is prohibitively expensive for most.
Cz75 BHP S&W 5906 S&W 3913 Sig p226 Sig P6 Glock 19 German Luger Hk p7 Beretta 92 (side note: The 1911 was never meant for a 9mm, and 9mm was never meant for a 1911.)
Of the semi-automatic centerfires that I own or have owned in the past 5 years, I'd rank approximately this way. 1. Tie between CZ 85 Combat and SP-01, depending upon whether or not I need a rail at the moment. 2. CZ 97B 3. CZ 75B 4. Tie between CZ 75 PCR and P-01, depending upon whether or not I need a rail at the moment (these would move to the top of the list for concealed carry. 5. Browning Hi-Power (I love this gun, but if I'm shooting several rounds, or shooting for accuracy, it wouldn't be as high on the list as the others above) 6. Kimber Custom II 1911 7. Beretta 92 SB (a quality, well-built gun but doesn't suit me in hand) 8. HK P2000SK (I can find zero interest in any HK I've ever shot; pretty much goes for any plastic handgun, but especially the HK) Full disclosure, my CZs contain various quantities of CGW and CZ Custom parts, but I still like them when stock, and the rankings probably wouldn't change even if they were still stock. If rimfires are included, the Browning Medalist would be at or near the top of the list.
