If you had the choice of five firearms with which to survive the end of civilazation as we know it what would they be and why?

My List
1. Savage MkII 22LR. Stupid reliable, cheap to stockpile ammo, and very useful.
2. Springfeild XDM 9mm. Gatta have a handgun of some variety. I like my DXm more then then my second choice a Para 1911. 9mm ammo is more abundant.
3. AR-15. An assult rifle is a must for defending your home when the law breaks down.
4. Browning BPS 12 guage. No battery is complete without a good shotgun.
5. Sako 85 308. A big game hunting rifle is a must have, and while the 308 is not my favorite caliber ammo is everywhere and it is enough gun for any North American game in a pinch.

Don't laugh, but not many people consider a wrist rocket aka...slingshot as a essential survival weapon. You can quietly dispatch game up to racoon size or if needed, provide someone with a good thunk on the head with a nice marble.

Fireams make noise, survival is sometimes about stealth.
 
5 different weapons in five different calibers is and would be a negative for surviving the end of the world as we know it. At a maximum carry two ammo types to insure logistics.
In my opinion one of these should be pistol cartridge also chambered in rifle configuration. Second ammo should be multi use shotgun.

1 22 lr rifle & pistol or .357 mag rifle and pistol
2 12 ga with assortment of shot and slug loads

Normally you can only use 1 firearm at at time, hauling around 5 firearms and 5 types of ammo is almost guaranteed to win you a Darwin Award.

++++++to Redlg155 who has realised that a slingshot, a sling, or a wire snare gets the job done on game up to and including man size without weighing more than 10oz and ammo is picked up anywhere.
