What are your favorite rifles? If you could own a select number of rifles (lets say around ten at most) what rifles would they be?

I think mine would be:
PSL Romanian Dragunov style 7.62x54r
New Winchester stainless synthetic model 70 .300 mag
Kimber montana in .300 mag or 30/06
Remington 700 in .308
and then a customized ak-47, ar-15, or some type of m14/m1a (probably a gas piston AR though )

Well, paring down the several dozen I have to 10, and substituting a couple of haves for wants would be quite an exercise, but certainly MOST of the top ten I already have, and would include, at a minimum, my DPMS LR260-L, CZ 550 FS in 9.3x62, CZ 453 Varmint in .17 HMR, Sporterized swede 94 Mauser in 6.5x55, "No. 6" Enfield jungle carbine 7.62x51, Bushmaster XM15 E2 20" 5.56x45 w/Ceiner conversion kit, Marlin 1895 .45-70, Savage 10 ML .50 cal smokeless powder ML, and a couple more. It'd be tough to decide those last few however. The Kel-Tec RFB and the Savage 12 F Class PTR in 6.5-284 (or a custom long range turnbolt) would probably fill the last 2 spots.

4.) Les Baer AR15 set us as an NRA service rifle in .223 (with a flat top upper).

5.) FN SCAR light in .223 with 18" barrel.

6.) FN SCAR heavy in .308 with 20" barrel.

7.) Anschutz 1903 match rifle with a Lilja barrel in .22LR.

8.) HS Precision Pro 2000 PH chambered in .338 RUM 26" barrel with detachable muzzle brake and mercury recoil reducers in stock.

9.) Nosler Custom M48 chambered in .270 WSM.

10.) Empire Rifles magnum Mauser chambered in .416 Ruger with a 22" barrel.

OK, I hereby substitute my list for coal dragger's list! I'm not worthy...

Thanks Dr. Winslow, you had some good picks on your list too. 10 is not nearly enough, I had to skip a few varmint rifles I would like, a sporter weight high quality rimfire, and some of the "pretty" rifles I would love too.

Had to narrow it down to rifles for competition (if I am ever able to get back into any of those games) and solid tough hunting or tactical rifles made to be used.

I guess the AR's I have listed could fill double duty as varmint rifles in a pinch though.

I also was not able to select a big .50 BMG, but the cost of shooting is too prohibitive and frankly the .338 Lapua would take care of those needs just as well for me.

1. Remington 700 or Surgen action custom stock Bartelien 20" 5R rifled barrel, surefire supressor, Bager Ordinance bottom metal with 10 round detachable mag. Custom paint job, BUIS, and topped off with a Nightforce 3-15 50mm scope.

2. M1A with a Troy stock (grip and stock selection is undecided on at the moment), 20" barrel, BUIS and a Nightforce 1-4 (or 5 can't remember).

3. AI .338 Lapua Magnum with a Nightforce scope (see #1).

4. Custom 1911

5. Mossberg 500 with a 6 pos. stock pistol grip Eotech optic, ghost ring and a bead for iron sights and a 20" barrel.

6. H.S. Precision Pro-Series pistol, custom stock, BUIS and a handgun optic.

7. A McMillian Tac-50, custom stock BUIS and a high power Nightforce or S&B scope

8. Remington 700 or Surgen action with all of #1 but in 30-06 and a 26" barrel instead of a 20" barrel because I'm an American citizen. (30-06)

9. An LWRC SBR in .223 with BUIS, Eotech, and a vertical grip.

10. The best bolt action .22 with all of the feature of #1 without the scope just BUIS, and a 20" barrel.



All Eotechs would ride on a LaRue mount and for the real scopes I would use Bager Ordinance for my mount and rings.

This is all in my head for when I can get it accomplished or a HUGE!!!!!! donation to the P.B. Walsh fund for Tactical Firearms (PBWTF), any amount is GREATLY appreciated. LOL........
For when SHTF I'll use #'s 1, 2, and 4.
I think those guns are only 10 of my many fantacies.

I dont have an interest in having alot of rifles or excess amounts of any firearms, but after owning a mini-14 for many many years, a 10/22 for many years, a ruger model 77 MKII target rifle for many years, the AR-15 was really the only other rifle I wanted, there are a few that could be fun to have, but not important.
I have had a glock for a long time and have no need for any handguns beyond the pistol my wife uses also.
