Traded my Airweight and $150 for a new LCR. The A/W was just to pretty to CC and it had a 3"BBL. I have trouble hiding a gun cause I'm not a BIG guy.
I agree with some of the above posts, I think you sold yourself short. Around here where I live a good M36 with a 2" barrel will sell for between $400 and $500, the 3" barrel revolvers are even more because they are rarely seen. I'm guessing the M37 will command similar prices although I can't ever remember seeing a M37 with a 3" barrel for sale anywhere around here or the shows. I think you could have gone straight up on that trade BUT, if you're happy with the trade than it's a good deal.

I won't pile-on re your deal. If both parties come away from a deal happy, it was a good deal. Of course, a gun dealer is unlikely to ever come away from a deal less than satisfied. I am not an LCR fan, having shot several in the last year or so - and, afterwards, happy as a lark that I still have a 642. The LCR is lighter than a new stock 642 - but, to me at least - has a decidedly toy-like feel, not longevity inspiring. Dry-firing with ear protection off will instill that feeling even more. Remington R38S12 +P 158gr LHPSWC's were shot, along with 125gr +P's and plinkers. Accuracy was recoil acceptable... but it sounded like the gun was on the verge of dissassembling itself. I guess I'll lump it with your KelTec, another gun you'll never find in my collection (I got my wife a Seecamp - I have only revolvers.), and state that if you are happy with it - and it suits your needs - I am happy for you. Please carry the LCR for personal protection, however.

The ONLY problem I have with the LCR is the trigger.
Not the pull or where it breaks, love that, it needs some "roughing up".

It's too smooth. I'm thinking of my dremel making vertical cuts or criss-cross.
Maybe a metal punch or the grip sandpaper used on guns.

I've owned my LCR 5days and haven't taken it apart to see what makes it tick.
That's a record for me. LOL

OK.

The shop owner put my J up for sale. It's a '83 3" mod. 37. I'd put it over 95%.
Who here is going to send me a money order for $400-500 for it??
I'd buy it back for that and send it to you! LOL

I passed up a 36 no dash with a 3" barrel for $399 this weekend. I just really don't care for 3" j-frames. That's me, though.

I love the 3 inch J frame. It's very accurate and easy for me to conceal in a Don Hume snap-on IWB holster. In fact, I used mine to get my CC a few years back. Several of the guys at the range were envious of mine. Mine has only about 85 percent finish yet a guy offered me 350 on the spot. He was the shop owner sponsoring the classes.

A 3" Model 37 that is "too pretty to CC" is worth ~much~ more than $250 but, if you're happy, then it doesn't matter.

Forgetitohio...LOL
The LCR is smooth! I would like to hear a thread or comments from S/W folks on Smith's "Bodyguard" .38 Special? A similar gun to the LCR, except for the laser. As a traditionalist, I still have to account for all the bad guys who get waxed by black plastic rifles and polymer side arms. They are getting the job done just fine. So it wasn't too big a step for me to try out my LCR in .357 mag. My particular LCR is exceptionally accurate at defensive ranges, and smooth as silk. My petite Filipino Baby, can't fire my Smith's DA...but can rip off rounds with the LCR, even in .357 mag. That speaks a lot for the modular action design of the LCR. Maybe that is it's greatest niche? Since it is a hammerless DA only configuration, the slick action affords itself well for women and the elderly. As for my own experience with the LCR, I find it a tough revolver. I have put it through the ringer, and have no problems at all. If I compare my LCR to my M640, the Smith is slightly easier to conceal due to a smaller grip. The LCR grip being larger, allows me to shoot better. Considering all factors, they serve the same purpose, but I shoot the LCR best and carry it more. The slick action on my LCR is the deciding factor. The one thing I don't like about the LCR grip, is that soft rubber has a tendency to grab your shirt and print the gun for CCW. So I wear a larger shirt. The grips definately are an advantage when the shooting starts. If I ever have problems with my LCR, I will go back to a M640 or SP-101 to stay.

I inadvertentely gave the impression my little J frame is a 37. It's a 3 inch bbl. S&W Model 36 blued model. I was responding to the post just before mine about passing up a 3 inch Model 36 at a show. I gave 165 as the action was seized up with gunk and grime. My brother owned it and hated it. I took it to a S&W gunsmith and had it cleaned, tuned, replaced the hand and smoothed out the trigger. It's a great little revolver. I want to try the LCR, however.

MAN!!!! been looking for a good deal on a 3inch 37, I would have given you $300 and payed the shipping without batting an eye

That Smith wasn't doing you any good sitting at home...the LCR will make you happy every time you shoot it....Not all people in our sport keep a running tally on every gun deal they make! Don't worry about a few bucks here and there. I like your attitude, sounds like you shoot because you like to shoot. Let the collectors wring their hands over your deal.
