I am about do the unthinkable...trade my Glock 19 for a S&W M&P9c!!! My wife just recently purchased one, I took her out to break it in, fired it and absolutely fell in love with it. Never shot an M&P before, had Sigs as an LEO, and Glocks after retiring. Loaded weight is the same as the Glock, and sizewise falls in-between the 19 and the Glock 26. The changeable grip inserts are great. Hope I will be forgiven...

Why is that unthinkable?? Glocks are as common and collectable as a Craftsman lawn mower. Not like you could not get another one some other day if you wanted.

Go with that you shoot the best and are confident with as long as it is a known reliable model and M&Ps certainly are.

I still have a Gen 2 Glock 19 that I bought new and it is a very fine pistol but I rarely shoot it these days after buying SIGs and Walther PPQ.

Congrats on finding a pistol that you really like!

Repent brother.

Seriously, I am thinking about picking up the SW M&P Shield myself, but would not consider getting rid of my G19s (three).

Best of luck.

Like most of us I ran out and got a Glock when they came out. They were of course cutting edge and state of the art. In firearms years that seems to be 100 years ago. While I'll always own my Glock I have since of course purchased many other handguns since then.I like the trigger on my XD better,I like the quality of the M&P better and believe it or not I have a Sigma that I like the feel better. While this may seem sacreligous there are better autoloaders these days than my Glock.

My wife shot an M&P 9mm this past Sunday. She prefers the G19 and her G26. It all more or less balances out.

I shot it too and my basic reaction was "meh". I'll just keep what I have, buy more components and shoot more.

Dont feel too bad.As soon as you trade in your glock 19,someone will buy it with in a day or so to another happy home.

I regret getting rid of my M&P. Of course its all personal preference, but that thing felt great, ran well, and took little to no maintenance to function properly. I don't get rid of things very often and when I do I don't look back. But that one still has me kicking myself.

While the glock is a great pistol and I give it all the respect in the world for being a great firearm, it just doesn't tickle my fancy. But like I said before, to each his own.

You"ll be giving up a great pistol for an even "greater" one for you.
I'm guessing whoever gets it will like it too.
You're happier, they're happy/happier..
What's to regret?
That's why we try/test em.

Until S&W makes a gun the size of the G19 (the M&P45 compact is close), I'll be sticking with my 19.

I have an M&P 45 fullsize and 40 fullsize. They are both phenomenal shooters, and I've carried them both. The 40 fullsize is easier to carry than the 45, because it's a bit smaller. Their compact 9mm and 40 are too small for me, and I don't like giving up more barrel length in a high velocity cartridge like the 9mm. The M&P45 compact is close, real close, but I'd like the option of higher capacity in the 9 or 40 calibers.

There are many reaons why many Law Enforcement Agencies have given up their Glocks for the M&P.

I still have my G19, which is actually my 3rd after selling 2 of them, but always went back to it. I actually find my XD40 more naturally pointable, has a better trigger, and just like it better. But for some weird reason, I want to keep the Glock. But I gotta tell ya, the Glock advertisments throughout the years have defintielty "brain washed" us to think it is the BEST handgun ever built. They may be right but we all know that alot of brands out there are most probably as good.

I'm still keeping my Glock...

The Glock 19 is my carry gun and not leaving. I love the XD .45 tactical I have but it's big and is my home gun. The trigger is great
