I've decided that I'm trimming down my collection. I've got a CZ-52, a Taurus PT945, and a Taurus TCP that I just don't care for.

I'm hoping to trade in the three of them and get two nicer guns out of the deal. I'm looking for a pocket carry piece, and possibly a 1911 style handgun.

Adding about a hundred dollars to those trades, what do you think I could get?

first off, dont walk in and say you want to trade 3 guns and hope to get 2... start with one that you hope to trade...and work from there...

I have yet to see a pocket carry 1911... unless you have huge pockets.

I do have big pockets, but the 1911 is not for my pocket. I don't have one and It's got to be better than the 945, which I don't care for at all.

I'm looking for a pocket auto or revolver for both my wife and I. I've got a Dan Wesson 2.5" for my carry, but she wants a pocket auto or a revolver.

Maybe a used Smith and Wesson Centennial in steel or aluminum (Models 40, 42, 640, 642) and a used Kimber, Springfield Armory, Colt or Taurus 1911.

Good luck with your search; there's nothing wrong with aspiring to a handgun battery that suits your needs and taste.

Thanks. The gun show's in town this weekend, so I figure I'll go and try to make some deals there.

Instead of just a straight trade, especially when it involves a shop or stand at a show, try to see what you can do by way of selling them outright and then buying what you want somewhere else as well. See if there is anything good on any of the online auction sites, check classifieds, it's good to have a couple of methods to getting what you want out of this.

Not much. Even if those guns are pristine, your trade-in value is maybe $450. Last time I traded a gun in, it was a standard 870 Express in like new condition. I got a whopping $120 for it. But I really wanted that Kimber, and was a little short.

Dealers will typically offer you about 50% of wholesale cost on your gun if it is 95-98% condition, and the CZ is probably only gonna fetch $100 at best.

Try to sell them outright.

I am talking about private trades.

I'm hoping to walk out with a Khar CW9 and a 1911 style pistol. I know the values for my CZ and the Taurus, what can I expect for the PT945? Gunbroker says about 500.

Thanks for your advice, genetlemen. I wound up not selling my 945 and trading the CZ52 for a P-64. Now I've got a carry piece I can trust.
