Trail Boss

I am also of the opinion that using a custom scoop or the closest Lee scoop is the best way to deal with Trail Boss. You need to practice the way you scoop and find what makes you able to drop repeatable charges first and foremost. Additionally you are making good loads that are reasonably accurate but not particularly with a low ES due to varying drops. The makeup of the granules is not conductive to super accurate drops. FWIW I tried using my Ideal 55 measure but was not as accurate as using a custom scoop. As mentioned above TB is not for serious accuracy IMHO but for soft shooting with lead bullets in the cowboy games.

I agree with Frogo207, As I use the Lee Dippers, and then I Trickle the powder to get it as accurate as possible. Trailboss is not that critical, but others are.

I really like Trailboss. I have used it in 38 Special, 45 ACP and 450 Bushmaster. I have used it in my Dillon XL650 without major issue. Certainly not the best metering powder I have used in my press but not the worst either. Consistent enough to keep my 38 Special in the down zero of an IDPA target.

I found that a cowboy action load commercially made for 44 mag shot very, very accurately with little recoil out of a lever action rifle. Sure enough, it wasn't hard to replicate with an inexpensive cast bullet and a bit of trail boss. I just bought a 44 mag bullet mold in plain base just to make up a bunch of these.
