This came up elsewhere; haven't seen Trailboss on the shelf for awhile...grabbed the last can I saw.
Was there an issue, in terms of production, or the powder itself?
Have enough for awhile, but it would be nice to know I can get more.
Thanks,
Moon

It is produced by adi Australia. It is not slated for production currently

It’s come up a time or two.

This comes up from time to time. I myself have never used Trail Boss, have no desire to. But these people are sitting on a gold mine. I don't think anyone makes a simular product, the demand seems, strong.Maybe I'm looking at it wrong.

The EU and Australasian countries are in the process of reversing the results of the Industrial Revolution by passing and enforcing laws which impose crushing penalties on certain industries. Among those industries are the civil arms and munitions trades on the excuse that they unnecessarily pollute the environment. There are legitimate arguments to be made that the manufacturing of smokeless powders could be more efficient but those are not the arguments being made; instead unexplained dictates are being imposed only on certain industries while far more dangerous practices are encouraged.
Bottom line: we can all expect diminishing supply and increasing costs for the rest of our lives.

I can’t think of any loads I currently use it for but is is a pretty easy powder to come up with a load, I just generally come up with a better load with a different powder.

Probably because even when I could get all of it I wanted I had to pay for a pound of powder but only get 9oz.

There are 7000 grains in a pound and only 3937 grains in 9oz…makes it pretty expensive to use.

I would love to have some Trail Boss. But...I doubt if it comes back any time soon. I am now using Titegroup to load my low power loads instead. Works fine. But...puts a little more pressure on getting 1 load only in a case. I would go back to TB if I could get it.

I like Trail boss for light 45 Colt loads and still have an unopened bottle on the powder shelf.

I suppose production could be moved to China that cares absolutely nothing about pollution. Personally I wouldn't touch any chinesium gunpowder with a very long stick.

Back in the days of normalcy Trail Boss was always a little cheaper by the bottle because of its bulk.
Last time I bought Trail Boss it was $14.95 for 3937 grains, at the time Hodgdon powders were around $20 for 7000 grains.
In handguns it’s been good, but not great.
In sub sonic 30-30 loads it’s awesome, nothing else comes close for accuracy and low sd numbers.

With Trail Boss and Tin Star not being produced anymore, Reload-Swiss RS14 is about the only equivalent still being produced anywhere. Unfortunately, I don't think it is sold in the United States.

The old yellow box Norinco that Clinton banned the importation of along with everything else firearm related from China, was the most accurate FMJ I have ever come across.
I used to buy that at my LGS for $1.99 for a box of 20...only to later discover that I could get 1k rounds for $79 through Shotgun News. It sort of spoiled me, because I thought all Mil-Surp 7.62x39mm was supposed to be that accurate

With cowboy action being so popular I am surprised that TB has been dropped. Yes, it is a little expensive, no the can is not a full pound or whatever and I do not care, the stuff is addictive.

I have some Blackhorn 209, I got the stuff on closeout at Walmart, a bunch of it for $12 a jug. It may be a sub for TB? Not as clean, kind of a weird propellent actually.

BH209 is a volume substitute for black powder but it's essentially smokeless powder. You got a fantastic deal at $12/8 oz because it retails for $75/8oz at the Hodgdon site. I bought a container when it first came out at $30 and really liked it for inline muzzleloaders but it's way too expensive for range plinking.

For Cowboy shooting there isn't anything TB can do that Red Dot, Titewad, Clays or Titegroup can't other than prevent a negligent double/triple/quadruple charge.
