Did a search found some threads about OC and Colorado legislation but nothing specifically addressing statutes.

Colorado honors my permit I know that much, but what is Colorado law on carrying? Does Colorado Springs and surrounding municipalities have additional restrictions?

To be more specific what places are off limits by the law for example are restuarants that serve alcohol including mixed drinks off limits?

Are places of gathering a no-no like shopping malls or tourist attractions?

What is Colorado law concerning the way the gun is carried/transported in a vehicle?

What weight of law do "no guns allowed" signs carry?

Thanks in advance, again statutes would be great.

CONDUCT
A permittee, in compliance with the terms of a permit, may carry a concealed handgun as
allowed by state law. The permittee shall carry the permit, together with valid photo
identification, at all times during which the permittee is in actual possession of a concealed
handgun and shall produce both documents upon demand by a law enforcement officer. Failure
to produce a permit upon demand by a law enforcement officer raises a rebuttable presumption
that the person does not have a permit. Failure to carry and produce a permit and valid photo
identification upon demand is a Class 1 Petty Offense.
A person who may lawfully possess a handgun or carry a handgun under the following
circumstances without obtaining a permit and the handgun shall not be considered concealed:
1. The handgun in possession of a person who is in a private automobile or in some other
private means of conveyance and who carries the handgun for a legal use, including self-
defense.
2. The handgun is in the possession of a person who is legally engaged in hunting activities
within the state of Colorado.
CARRY RESTRICTIONS
A permit to carry a concealed handgun authorizes the permittee to carry a concealed handgun in
all areas of the state except as specifically limited as follows:
1. a person may not carry a concealed handgun into a place where the carrying of
firearms is prohibited by Federal Law,
2. a person may not carry a concealed handgun on to the real property, or into any
improvements erected thereon, of a public elementary, middle, junior high or high
school,
3. a person may not carry a concealed handgun into a public building at which security
personnel and electronic weapons screening devices are permanently in place,
4. a person may not carry a concealed handgun where a private property owner, private
tenant, private employer or private business entity disallow.

No, we have state wide pre-emption.

To be more specific what places are off limits by the law for example are restuarants that serve alcohol including mixed drinks off limits?

You can drink in restaurants serving alcohol, just don't drink.

Are places of gathering a no-no like shopping malls or tourist attractions?

I don't remember off the top of my head, but I think both malls in town are posted no open carry. Someone else will probably know.

What is Colorado law concerning the way the gun is carried/transported in a vehicle?

Your vehicle is considered an extension of your home and you can conceal carry without a permit.

What weight of law do "no guns allowed" signs carry?

If it is posted then they don't deserve your business.

The Colorado Revised Statutes (CRS) section 18-12-214 have all the info you'll need. Concealed carry is uniform though the State some Cities / Counties may have additianal restrictions on Open Carry but as long as you keep it concealed you'll be legal. You can carry where in a resturant where alcohol is sold as long as you are not drinking. If the private property owner does not allow weapons and it's posted just go somewhere else because property owners have the right to not allow it. If you ignore it you'll likely catch a trespassing charge.

Malls and other locations of gathering are not restricted unless as said above the property owner posts that carry is not allowed.

Schools, Govn't buildings or any place with electronic screening (metal detectors) is off limits as well as any location where Federal law restricts carry.

Most likely the laws are very similar to your laws maybe even a little less strict. As long as you carry as you would and follow all laws that apply in NM you should be good to go. Similarities are probably the only reason the state recognizes your NM permit in the first place.

having relatives there i visit yearly and my observation has been that the "springs" isint a open-carry kind of city,, many tree-huggers and naturalists packed in with college-age kids and military brats, kinda like my town, MN allows open-carry, but if you dont want to be stared at around here you carry concealed,, just the way it is.. Hopefully someday ALL states will get their poop-in-a-scoop and have recriprocity with other pistol-permit states,,

some Cities / Counties may have ILLEGAL additional restrictions on Open Carry. State preemption applies everywhere in Colorado except for Denver, including open carry.

You can EAT in restaurants serving alcohol, just don't drink the alcoholic stuff.

Oops, I meant to say carry.
