E7653A21-045F-4B98-81FD-74EF86ED46A3.jpeg I ordered some Treso flask spouts and the company sent me two orders. I emailed them to see if they wanted me to send them back and they told me to just keep them. Since I don’t need two of them I was wondering if any of you could use them. The sizes are 25 20 and 15.
If there something you could use let me know and I’ll and them to you.

If you want to pay me you could answer a question for me as payment.
During the Civil War what was a better gun, the Remington new model army or the colt? I’ve read different opinions, some say the colt was more Sought after, others say the Remington. I’ve read that the colt was more expensive, but I‘ve also read the colt was cheaper. Lots of opinions floating around on the subject

The Remington New Model Army was not produced until 1863, whereas the Colts (1848 Dragoon, 1851 Navy, 1860 Army, 1861 Navy) were far more plentiful. According to Pate's Colt 1860 Army Revolver book, US Army Contract 1860 Army revolvers ranged from $18-$25 per revolver (1861-1863), depending upon the different contracts. Remington contracted with the Army (1863-1865) @ $14 per revolver. When the Colt factory burned in early 1864, Colt could only sell the stock on hand until the factory was rebuilt to allow production to somewhat resume. When the ACW ended in April 1865, the Army now had many more revolvers than it needed and started selling off surplus to the civilian market at reduced prices to recoup some of their money.

Insofar as which were the better guns, I will leave that up to others to argue about.

Russel, I don't want nor need your Treso spouts so donate them to some deserving individual.

Regards,

Jim

Russel, You might want to hang on to those spouts at some point you may want to cut some them down for custom loads you work up.
I feel the same way... which is going to make for an awesome garage sale after I shuffle off this mortal coil.

I feel the colt would be best for the war! but I sure could use one as I just got in this traditions vest pocket derringer and are about to purchase a flask so I could use the 15g or either one of the other two to cut down to the amount I need!

I have no basis for saying this other than what I’ve read, but apparently the Remington gum up a little quicker than the colts. So I would guess the Colts would’ve been preferred. Or the ruger old army (just kidding) :)

I have heard lots of stories of Remington cap jams. When my life depended upon a horse pistol I would think a jammed gun would be a bad thing, however it would still make for a real solid club should that need arise.
