Hi Folks,
In my good AR's I run Giessele SSA-E 2 stage triggers however these are quite pricey and I would prefer a cassette style trigger to its easier to move in between rifles. Anyone have a recommendation for other triggers I should evaluate?

Thanks,
Dom

Doesn't make much sense to move triggers between rifles. If you like one trigger, just swap the lower receiver between rifles. Or build 2 lowers.

I like Del-ton's 2 stage trigger on my AR. Quite a bit more budget friendly compared to Geissele.

Do you like flat triggers? Or traditionally curved ones?
I like flat ones. From 1911s to stick shifts, to ARs.

In the AR category I like the Elftmann Match at two pounds. Very nice. And the price reflects it, too. In this price range is the Rise Red and the Triggertech Diamond. Super nice. The AR Gold triggers fit in here too, I am told...

Oh, wait. You wanted less pricey than a Geissele...

Velocity triggers have a good rep, and I love my CMC Flat three pounder, it has a little dingus on the bottom of the trigger. I think it punches above its weight class. Especially if found on sale for a hundred twenty dollars!;)

This article gave me some inspiration.

I concur with the author that a good trigger is good, and a bad one is bad, but to feel the difference between two good ones is difficult and subjective. Especially for a non-calibrated human finger.

I was lucky enough an outfitter had a sales display set up with many triggers in the Ruger dummy grips.
There were some I did not like, but I am sure it was only in comparison, with the others sitting right there.

I am with the others about changing trigger packs.
If it is an Elftmann it won’t be fast or easy, regardless of It being in a cartridge, especially so if you’ve got the “Master Link” anti rotation pins.

Unlike “loose” triggers, a cartridge trigger should feel the same no matter the lower it’s in. (Unless it just won’t fit.:))
I have moved an awful, creepy Mil-Standard trigger to a different lower and had it end up a perfectly respectable trigger, albeit with a heavier pull than the rest I like. That should not happen with a cartridge trigger.

Strange everyone offering up non-cartridge triggers, you said you wanted one...

You can find Timney triggers on sale, they are fantastic. CMC is great too, however I think I like the Timney a bit better. These are both drop-ins, so installation takes 5 min..

The Gessele G2 is like $135ish, sometimes significantly less when on sale and even Bill G says himself that after a 500 rd break in the SSA and G2 are indistinguishable. I cant sh because I dont run an SSA but I can vouch for the G2. They are pretty much identical and 40%-50% less than the SSA.

The Larue MBT is also great. Lighter pull. I prefer the G though...

being an unrealistic expectation. Cartridge triggers also tend to be costlier which means the OP’s objective, saving money, isn’t accomplished.

I have Geissele G2S, Rock River NM and a Larue. I will be buying Larue from now on. Although I would like to try Palmetto's 2 stage nickel boron it has good reviews if the do the $70 shipped thing again I might get one.

It's not a 2 stage but but a very good inexpensive trigger upgrade is the PSA NiB Single Stage trigger. I really have come to like mine. The first few hundred pulls seem kind of meh but somewhere between 300-800 rounds it has become an impressive trigger for $40. They get mixed reviews but I am very pleased.

I guess I will be the detractor on the LaRue. I bought one to replace the ALG QMS in my Barrett Rec10. It was flat out terrible. As in worse than mil-spec. The QMS was better, and it is nothing to write home about. I replaced with Geissele and couldn't be happier.

I've run this trap before, trying to find something better AND cheaper than the Geissele for my purposes. It always ends up more expensive in the long run because I break down and buy another Geissele.

With that said, I plan on repeating my mistake (expecting different results of course) and trying the PSA 2 stage for my next trigger.
