Trijicon RMR

Im looking into getting a Trijicon RMR. I like the Dual Illuinated version with the smaller 7 MOA dot. I hate batteries and switches. I have an aimpoint comp M4. I like that its rugged and tough. I also like that the batteries last forever. However, I dont like that it is so bulky and I dont like to have to turn a little nob to get the power turned on. Does anyone have a Trijicon RMR? What do you think about it? Is it built tough?

I have an RMR on my FNP-45 Tactical. Love it, but I think they are better suited for pistols than rifles as IMHO even 4 MOA dots are bit on the large size for rifles.

I wish they had rear sight replacement mounting plates for other handguns -- like the Burris Fastfire or Optima/J-Point sights do so I could add them to some other favorites.

The Fastfire or Optima sights work well but the batteries are a hassle and IMHO pretty much constrain them to range only guns as these replace the rear sight.

To elaborate, it will not be my primary optic. Will be running it at the 1 o'clock position alongside my trusty ACOG.

If you have an Aimpoint CompM4 you don't need to worry about turning it on, it's battery life is such that you should turn it on to your desired setting and LEAVE IT ON. That will solve one problem.

Well the RMR is hard to beat as a secondary optical sight as the large dot won't be a problem if you've got something else for longer range precision shots.

The only issue you might encounter with a "non-standard" mount location could be having enough adjustment range to get a good zero. I seemed pretty close to the vertical limit setting it up on my FNP-45 Tactical.

I will never trust my life to a battery working after any significant idle period. YMMV.
