Got a good price on a DPMS panther bull LR-308. Looking for an optic. Shooting at medium range, (say 600 m max) paper, not competition. Planning to shoot inexpensive ammo. 1. Price less than $900 or there abouts, looking for mil-dot, MRAD or BDC type reticles 2. Looking at the Trijicon 2.5-10x 56 mm acupoint - Pros: would seem to be good low light. No batteries. Lighter weight at 20.7 oz.Can be had for under $650. 3. Also looking at Vortex Viper PST FFp Gen II 2-10x32. Pros: Lots of nice features but subtle. Price for the Vortex is under $850 and weight is just under 27 oz. Now, I can easily see using the Trij and keeping it at 10x using the SFP for range estimation. That would mitigate the FFP of the Vortex, or would it ? Thoughts ? Other scopes to look at ?
Here ya go. These are great scopes. https://www.swfa.com/swfa-ss-hd-3-9x42-tactical-30mm-riflescope.html?___SID=U If I'm reading this right you get 11% off through Monday. That would get it down to $534.
I ended up getting an Athlon Optics Midas BTR Gen2 4.5-27x50 with an MRAD reticle (which is what I'm used to) for $550 or so plus tax with free S&H (the subtensions are accurate at 15x which is likely where I'll leave it most of the time):
