Triple K holster interior sheds

There were no bites to this question on another board, so I thought I should try this here in General.

Does someone have ideas how to treat the interior leather to a Triple K leather/imitation leather holster (not sure if it's genuine)? It sheds a lot and the small particles mixing with oils and heat over hundreds of shots could be somewhat to blame for past mechanical failures on the firing range (full seizure of the cylinder). This is my theory at least. Would hair spray be worth a try without having to worry about damaging the bluing, or do you know of another spray sealer? I want to be as inexpensive in fixing this as possible.

I would talk it to a saddle shop and ask them.

Regarding holsters http://www.epsaddlery.com/ these folks do a great job. I have ordered several from them and am very very pleased. The prices are reasonable as well.

Mitch Rosen (if you can afford him) does an excellent job as well.

Maybe what you need is something to beat up that can take it, using the Triple K holster occasionally. Also, Triple K is KKK... Gotta wonder about a company that would name themselves something like that... Just food for thought.

The Triple K Manufacturing Co, is owned by a gentleman named Kurt Krasne, who has absolutely no connection to the organization you were thinking of.

If it's already shreding you're due for a new holster. You could reline but that would be as expensive as a new one. Use the old to see where the gun rubs when you get a new holster.

Look at the gun and see if there are any sharp corners or edges that are causing a problem. Ease them with a very fine file or high grit sand paper. (Make sure the residue is all removed.) If the gun is blued you'll have to atleast use cold blue on the eased areas.

If you are going to keep the holster until it falls apart, use a bottle brush to clean it frequently.

Old Fuff... actual name aside, common sense would seem to indicate that the connotations of KKK would be bad for business...

I mean, if your last name happens to be Krakk, and you make golfclub heads, would "Crackheads R us" be a good idea?

Wiley, the holster is only a little over two years old. It can't be time for a new holster so soon. That day at the shop were slim pickins. I should have just left the shop with the gun in the box.

Triple-K doesn't use "KKK" as their logo. They are "Triple-K." I always assumed it was a name like many western ranch names, along the lines of the "Double R Bar" or something like that.

They make good holsters for a fair price ... I have a couple of them. Until seeing this thread a few moments ago, it would never have occurred to me to equate "Triple-K" with the Klu Klux Klan.

Truthfully, of all that you said, there's ab-so-lute-ly nothing of value whatsoever from your post. That's amazing! This is NOT about the KKK! It's about a problem with a holster ... mmmkay?

Keep in mind that while Triple-K's are good holsters they are inexpensive and somewhat generic in size. It's not the age of the holster, it's how much use it has gotten. Where are the wear marks? Where does the gunk accumulate on the gun.

If the interior is rough, as opposed to smooth, you might try some sand paper on the interior to knock off the loose pieces. 80-100 grit working up to 180-220.

Also check with Triple-K.

When it was suggested, with absolutely no supportive evidence, that the Triple K Manufacturing Co. might be associated in some way with the KKK the implications could have an unfair negative effect on their business. Thus it was not improper to address the issue, and point out that the “Triple K” part of the name came from the owner’s name.

If someone here made some outrageous remark about some aspect of your personal conduct or lifestyle I’m sure it wouldn’t be long before you posted a reply – as you certainly should.

Hopefully on The High Road companies or individuals will not be tarred with accusations of the kind made concerning the Triple K Manufacturing Co., unless there is supporting evidence.
