I am going to have my next handgun (probably an HK P2000 or USP Compact) hard chromed by Tripp Research or NP3 plated by Robar.
From what I have read:
The gun will be used for carry and some rather intensive training classes. I dont live near salt water, and dont often carry near it. I do live in a rather humid environment, but I have never had a rust issue with any of my guns due to humidity or perspiration.
From what I have read:
- Tripp is harder and more scratch resistant
- NP3 wont crack as easily as hard chrome
- NP3 may scratch easier but the damage is isolated to the area and rust will not get under the plating
- Tripp in my opinion looks much nicer, but NP3 is easier to clean and somewhat self lubricating.
