So I got a bit addicted to Marlin rimfires.. the latest was a Marlin 89c for $25 - caveat being it was umm.. in pieces. I'm having trouble finding a good schematic \ or diagram showing what parts go where to try and get her back together. Anyone have any suggestions?

I read mention on another forum that Brownell's Encyclopedia of Modern Firearms Parts and Assembly may have the picture I am looking for but I can't find that book or the mentioned diagram within locally. Some people erroneously point to a Numrich picture which does not show placement and is actually for a different tube fed rifle.

no go on youtube. Modern marlin's are of course much easier to find info on.

These 88\89's were started in the late '40's I believe and use a rather different action from what I can see.

Good luck...

I would telephone someone at Marlin, as they may and likely do have a manual (hopefully with schematic and parts list). :)

I will try and call them, they sure don't have manual for models this old on the corresponding section of their website. I heard another Marlin enthusiast who tried to call and ask for the same and was told 'sorry'. But I'll try anyway.

Looked there myself, at no avail...but looks like you have your answer above, a honest Marlin 89 reassembly tool...called Nugilum. :D

I actually called Marlin for information back in February, and they mailed me everything they had...

A photocopy of a brochure. :banghead:

As you would guess, I wasn't too impressed. :scrutiny:

You would think someone would keep a little better records than that, the rifle is not even that old. I expect better.

Now this may seem like a stupid question...but how do you know you received all of the pieces? Looks like you have parts from a couple rifles there. :)

Normally I'm not a gambler but if any gun were cheap enough.. I'd be weak. When one pays less than 30 for an old rifle, one doesn't know what one might get :)

Yes, it seems I have duplicates of at least some pieces as seen with the 2 stocks. Story goes: a fellow bought this somewhere incomplete.. so he bought a group of 89c parts of gunbroker but it didn't include what he wanted (a mag). So now there is duplicate of some parts but no doubt a few missing pieces (which I will order ect.,)

Well if you get her back together then you gambled and won. Wish I could be of some assistance; Good luck. :)
