Having just completed another shooting class, I've settled on the truths I believe I've learned from the many classes I've attended. Feel free to add your own:
1. Someone will have cooler gun stuff than you do.
2. Your stuff will be plenty good enough.
3. Someone will always shoot better than you do.
4. You'll shoot better than someone.
5. Everybody misses sometimes.
6. No matter how well anybody at the class shoots, don't forget that there's nobody shooting back.

People are full of crap, if you attend enough courses there always your former military rambo. Their service in reality is only important to them but they feel they must share, congrats on YOUR personal choice.

Everything is a head shot guy

I did not know to load mags

Those who believe what they learn in the course will some how help them in real life.
(Your house has a greater statistical chance of burning to the ground than it does being burglarized )

I don't really actively attend training anymore because everything is centered around preparing for a world that just will not exist.

Another argument based on 'statistics' for banning guns! You don't need them for self-defense. Since they are too dangerous for just a hobby, let's support Diane Feinstein who would get rid of them all and let's ban everything semi and high capacity Uncle Joe.

If one doesn't want to train and/or own a gun - spare us.

10. Bring enough extra magazines, and mark them, because one always seems to hiccup.

11. Hydration on the range is your friend. Water in, water out, at every break.

13. Bring a Uplula or other mag loading helper.

14. Leave your preconceived notions at the door and give the instruction a chance. There are always more than one way to “skin a cat”.

The water you drink the day before improves the performance you'll see. AND drink a pint of water every hour starting before the training.

Load mags before the class.
  • Hydration is a must!
  • Mark your mag’s, as someone else probably has the same type
  • Make the class a learning and shooting class, not a loading class
  • Try to learn something, your are paying with both money and time
An example…a speed loader “loader” I put together for my wife so she could shoot vs load….

20. The night before is not the time to gorge on very spicy foods.
21. Research the way way to the range thoroughly, get there early. Waiting for Earl and then having Earl drag his crap into the room, range, etc. is annoying
